With the death of Robert "Thunders" Lipa on November 11, 2000, the band wasn't sure what was going to happen, it felt to them the Jungle Studs were done, and would probably be only rock & roll history. Bobby had written most of the music and lyrics with Billy. Losing Bobby while they were hoping to write a new batch of songs was deafening. Bobby's guitar style was always the forfront of the band, replacing him with someone else and keeping the band alive would be a hard task. With some inside people questioning if the band should do this at all. The remaining members Billy Arnone and Geoffrey Freeland have invested 16 years performing and hell raising in the Jungle Studs and Billy knew someone who might be able to fit the bill. Calling Jonny Radice on the phone a few weeks after Bobby's death, Jon wasn't sure if he should do it at first, the band had been around along time and expectations of him might not let him truely be himself, Bobby's style is what everyone is used to. After talking to both Billy and Geoff on the phone, Jonny knew he had to join the Jungle Studs, not for any reason but it completely felt right. Billy had been an old friend from way back when, and to work with him on stage, Jon knew the chemistry between him and Billy was going to make it a special situation. With Geoffrey as a major driving force in the band, not only on drums, but in promo, booking and etc. Plus with Ed as a backbone to the band on stage and at practice (which is in his living room), and making all the "Jungle Stud Ceramic Art" that is for sale on our "CD'S T-SHIRTS & ETC." page, photographing live shows, onstage reseting drums that crash during shows or helping out on any problem that comes up. Ed is like the 4th Stud, and is a big part of the attitude of the Jungle Studs. |
