If Someone Asked

If someone asked you if this war is wrong would you answer from your head or from your heart?

Is it wrong to kill those who wish to kill us or are have we taken on God's part?

If someone asked you what freedom means would you be able to say?

Would you think of the simple ways in which we take freedom for granted each day?

If someone asked you to serve your country, defiant against enemies in the night

Would you take a stand, plant your feet in the sand and defend with all your might?

I don't claim to know that war is ever just but I go by the feelings deep within.

I know somewhere there are nations who believe that blatant terrorism is the way to win.

I know we may never stop hatred and acts of aggression but America and allies alike

Have to draw a line in the sand of right and wrong and be brave enough to put up a fight.

I hate war and the thought of death but I want someone to make me feel safe again.

And I want to feel that the lives that are lost will give us that peace when we win.

I think heroes are born each day in this world and war shows us valor in the truest sense

So I will trust in the strength of these young men and women and be proud of the colors they represent.

When the tanks stop resounding and the last plane has landed on safe shore

I will pray to our Father that someone in the future we won't have to hear those sounds anymore.
