The PHILIP ALAN GALLERY is
proud to present new work by artist Lisa Hochtritt. The exhibition entitled,
“HEROES & HAIRDOS,” opens Thursday, July 11, 2002 and continues through
Sunday, July 28, 2002.
Hochtritt is best known for
her work as “June Cleavage,” a persona carried over from her 1980’s days as a New
Wave disc jockey. Hochtritt recently created an interactive installation
piece entitled, “Street Treats,” at Macy Gallery in NYC that included over 600
hand silk-screened “June” posters, flyers and stickers, playing on the idea of
bringing the ‘outside in.’ Hochtritt’s current exhibition at Philip Alan
Gallery, “HEROES & HAIRDOS,” continues her work with interactive
installations and features playful silk-screened wig images and iconographical
hero elements enlarged to life-size proportions. This “larger-than-life” exhibition
includes a free takeaway gift, also a hallmark of the Hochtritt experience--A
fun summer show for the entire family!
Hochtritt is a native of
Wisconsin and has lived in numerous places in the U.S. and abroad. She received
her Master of Arts degree in Creativity and Arts Education from San Francisco
State University and she is currently a doctoral candidate in Art and Art
Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, New York City. Hochtritt is
employed as the Museum Education Coordinator at The Heritage School, a public
high school in East Harlem. Hochtritt has shown her artwork in galleries in San
Francisco, Indiana, and New York.
