Here's another story! Contains Spoilers for Jim/Marie!
June watched as Jim talked on the phone, they were in CSU.
"I love you too!" he smiled, she turned away from him. He hung up,
"Jim�"she started,
"Sarge?" he asked,
"I need you to go to the Cockroft estate, you remember little Daniella Baker, young black girl? She's been beaten up, I was with her last night in the hospital."
"Isn't that the third night you've worked straight through?" he asked, concerned. She looked at him,
"Jim, I know what you're thinking but I'm okay, in fact I'm planning on going home right now." she said,
"You're um, you're okay right?"
"Of course I am," she turned away from him,
"June�"
"Jim, please don't. It's over," she told him.
He could see the pain in her eyes. "I never meant to hurt you�"
"Jim, you're happy. Let's just leave it at that" she walked out. Jim sighed and sat down.

June was in her car, driving a little too quickly. She stopped as a teenager fell in front of her.
"Oh!" she shouted, she got out of the car, "are you okay?" she asked the young black boy.
"They're gonna get me!" he clung to her,
"Who?" she asked him as he panicked.
"Please get me out of here!" he begged, he had tears in his eyes. She saw three men coming towards them, all shouting.
"Get in the car," she ordered, the boy did so, immediately getting into the passenger seat. She quickly climbed in and began to drive away.

June looked at the young man next to her,
"Are you okay?" she asked, as he calmed down. "What's you're name?"
He put his hand in his pocket. "Just shut up and drive!" he pulled out a knife and put it against her throat. She gasped.

They were driving,
"Why are you doing this?" she asked,
"I had to get away,"
"What? Why-"
"You're a copper!" he shouted, she jumped,
"I was trying to help you!"
"Just shut up and drive!" he shouted,
"No" she stopped the car, she breathed in deeply.
"I'll kill you!"
"Fine! Kill me!" she shouted, he looked at her. He hit her angrily; she scrambled out of the car. He grabbed her as he ran after her. She screamed as he kicked her, he began to beat her,
"Stupid - coppers! - You're - all - pigs!" he bellowed with each kick. June was ready to pass out. She suddenly felt nothing, no more kicks. She looked up to see the boy being pulled away.

Polly ran into CSU,
"June's been attacked," she announced, Jim shot up.
"Is she okay?" he asked,
"She's in St Hughes," she said. Jim ran out.
*********
June was lying on the hospital bed, battered and bruised.
"I'm fine!" she told the doctor,
"Actually Miss Ackland, you came in for tests last month?" he asked,
"Yes, I'd forgotten about them."
"We have the results "she told her,
"And...." she asked.

Jim ran through the hospital just in time to see June walking out slowly,
"Hey are you okay?" he asked looking at the state she was in.
"Um, could you drive me home?" she asked quietly,
"Yeah, sure what's wrong?"
"I've just... been beaten up what do you think" she lied, biting down on her bottom lip.
"Oh right, are� I mean what happened?"
"I don't want to talk about it please Jim just take me home." she asked.

June was sat on her couch she grasped her broken ribs. She couldn't believe it, she openly sobbed as she sipped the vodka from the bottle, remembering the doctor�s words.
"There's a chance you'll live,� he said, "it's a 50/50 chance,� he told her, "the cancer is spreading her.� One word went around in her head. "Cancer... cancer.... cancer�" she drifted to sleep. Cancer!
