Jim turned the car engine off and looked at June �You ok babe?�
�Yeah, I think I�m still in shock, I can�t believe that I maybe as far gone as the doctor thinks�
�Didn�t you even suspect?�
�No I just put it down to stress, what with the wedding and everything, at least we will now after this scan, you know they could discover problems�
�June, our child will be perfect regardless, come on, have you drunk all that water�
�Yep�
June sat down at the table
�Well how did it go� asked Gina excitedly
�I�m 4 � months pregnant, we are having a little boy, hopefully perfectly well, we did not want to risk an amniocentesis, but the scan showed no problems, but we don�t really care, it will be our child and that is all that matters to me and Jim�
�Good I�m really pleased for you, can I see the scan photo�
�I was hoping you would say that� June took the photo from her pocket
�Jim can�t wait to tell everyone, I told him at the weekend that he could not tell anyone until I had got this far�
�I still can�t believe that you didn�t realise you were that far gone or even that you were pregnant�
�Tell me about it, if you had not have guessed Jim and I would still be none the wiser, we were talking, we would like you to be our son�s godmother�

�Well as we speak my husband is planning, to quote Jim �The best BBQ this nick has ever seen� for next weekend, I know it is short notice, but these lot are always free when there is the chance of a free drink and feed�

June was sat at the kitchen table, reading the Sunday paper and watching Jim prepare various salads for the BBQ this afternoon, even with the short notice there was more than 50 people coming at the last count, they were both glad that they had moved house 6 months ago as they now had a huge garden and a huge house.
June had been sad to leave her old house as it held many memories of the early days of their relationship, but with Jim�s flat finally being sold and with the money form the sale of her house they were able to purchase a big house on the edge of Canley.
Jim had been impressed with the size of the kitchen and being the cook that he was June was more than happy to let him prepare the food for today
�I do think you missed your vocation you know that� she said without looking up from the news paper
�You cheeky woman� he said, throwing the dishcloth behind him in June�s direction �It�s a good job really or we would be living off ready meals if you had your way�
�I�m not that bad, just am not as good as you are, anyway you have to look after me now that I am carrying your child�
Jim laughed � What was your excuse before you were pregnant� he looked at her �Gina was right yesterday, you are definitely being to show, it is obvious in that top�
June put the paper down and looked at her neat bump �I thought that this morning , these trousers were difficult to do up and this top was not what I was planning to wear, the black one was too tight, I could not get it across my boobs�
Jim smiled at her �I had noticed that they were getting bigger too�

Des, Nick, Tony and Polly were stood in the garden talking
�Trust you to notice� said Tony
�I was only saying� said Des
�Yes� replied Nick �But by making that statement you are telling us that you are a big perve, isn�t sleeping with one Sergeant enough for you �
�No I was only saying, that the sarge is getting more fuller up top�
�Oh please� said Polly before walking away
�Ignore her mate, she is only jealous that June is now big mates with
Inspector Gold�
�I only meant it that it looks like the sarge is putting on weight

�Don�t you start too Nick, look I�m going to check that Pol is ok�
Tony walked off to the other end of the garden

Jim stood on a chair �Can I have everyone�s attention, I would like to make an announcement....�
�Don�t tell me� heckled Des �you are going to be changing your name to
Sarah or something like that� Everyone laughed as Sheelagh hit Des
�No that announcement will be made at the Christmas party, what I would like to say is that June and I are expecting a baby in 4 months time� Cheers and clapping broke out around the garden �I would like to take this chance to thank June for making me the happiest man on the planet and I love her more than words can say� Jim got down off the chair and hugged June
�I love you too� she kissed him
Polly rushed over � Jim, something�s wrong with June, she was doing something in the kitchen and suddenly clutched her stomach�
Jim rushed into the kitchen closely followed by Polly �June� what�s wrong� he looked at June, who was sat on a chair and being handed a glass of water by Gina
�Calm down Jim� said Gina
�Everything is ok Jim, I promise, I felt the baby move and it took me by surprise, he�s still kicking now�
�Fantastic, can I feel�
�Of course you can you daft sod, come here�
Jim came over to where June was sitting, she took his hand and placed it on her stomach, he smiled as he felt the baby kick
�Oh that�s brilliant� he kissed her
�Come on Pol...� said Gina taking Polly by the hand �lets leave them alone for a bit�
4 months later June gave birth to a baby boy, which they named Matthew
