| ABSORPTION AND REFLECTION OF SUNLIGHT Specific heat- the amount of heat needed to raise the temperature of one gram of a substance by one degree Celsius. The greater the specific heat an object has, the slower it takes to heat up and cool down. The lesser the specific heat an object has, the faster it takes to heat up and cool down. Albedo- measurement of how much light is reflected An object that reflects a high amount of light has a high albedo. An object that reflects a low amount of light has a low albedo. Light is energy. Light energy that is absorbed changes form into heat. |
