With all those powers bound with glory
on the tongues of all the long ago boys almighty stories
he'll ride into the sunset high atop his mighty steed
when he's out of sight, his head falls between his knees
forever hiding the sadness and fears - oh
it's the sad life of a super hero

One night stands with the unmoral occupy his time
he'll keep going, never quitting, then he'll give his line
he masks trembling and doubt for an appearance of stone
he stands still cause those cold cold chills are constantly rushing through his bones
living for the common good, protecting strangers he doesn't know
it's the sad life of a super hero

It's so unatural to see
all that pain, death, no healing
every night, to god he prays
for all those desperate lives he couldn't save
as an inhuman amount of guilt fills his soul

Oh, those young boys would idolize
how he could never live a normal life
always catching something that will effect
they changed to people to fight or protect
and he goes to sleep and dreams of all that he couldn't do

It's his familiar territory, he knows nothing else
he unknowingly and instinctively puts on his belt
so much wrong, so much of the horrid to fight
desperately clinging to an identity he'll always have to hide
just one unthoughtful thankyou would make his heart so much more whole
it's a sad life of a super hero
