South Africa
I was born in a small city in the (then) Orange Free State in 1978. We then moved to a small town near the Ciskei. From there I moved to the coast to do my High School, and I've been at the university of Pretoria for 8 years now. I'm doing my PhD in Molecular Plant Physiology.

Both my parents are educators. My mother was a teacher first at a school for the blind, then at a black school, and finally at a College of Education where she trained other teachers. My father was a professor of Afrikaans Literature at a black university for 22 years, but has also retired. My parents now live on the East Coast.

I'm happy to be a South African. We're building something great over here.
