Consigned to Oblivion

All alone I feel,
Standing upon this solemn mountain.
Gazing off into the distance,
Towards the slowly setting sun.
A light touch upon my shoulder,
As though a phantom beckons me to come.
I turn away from this rotting world,
Sad to leave you behind.
I take one last look to the west,
And to the beginning of a new day,
As I realize now, at the end,
You will forever be by my side.

Dusk to Dawn

Dusk.
The air grows increasingly colder,
& the sun sets beyond the horizon,
Colorfully painting the heavens,
In beautiful hues of red & orange.
Night falls like a blanket over my eyes,
Enveloping my simply complex world.
The crickets begin to chirp,
Singing their graceful song of love.
The last bit of cloud finally breaks,
Revealing the illuminating darkness above.
The heavens above drift endlessly,
On and on till the first morning light.
It's late now, or perhaps early.
The sun peeks over the horizon,
Throwing color across the landscape,
Giving life to the world as it rises.
The rock, the tree, the rose,
Filling each with satisfying warmth.
Finally the light washes over me,
And I to feel reborn and alive.
Dawn.

Last Breath

I can see you calling,
Yet that does not keep me from falling.
Your lips move like a silk curtain.
For what reason I’m not certain.
You cry out “I love you,”
As you reach the high hill crest
Then with a last touching display,
You place your hand upon my chest.
“I will love you my dear, always.”
As I realize this is my last breath.

Lost and Weary

Here I am as I travel,
Through darkness looking for love.
Hoping one day to unravel,
The mysteries served down from above.
Up ahead the fog begins to part,
And finally I come to grasp.
That all the woes of my heart,
Can be linked to every woe from my past.

Love Comes Along

Love comes along,
Perhaps in this fleeting instance.
Can’t let it pass you,
Because it could be in the distance.
Love comes along,
When you least expect it.
But your choices dictate,
When your true love must fit.
Love comes along,
So you best be prepared.
Or to the grave you’ll go,
Without knowing how’d you have faired.

Rain Drops of Life

Rain drops fall,
Ever so softly.
Leaving their mark,
Among the pools,
Among the ponds.
Each one splashing,
Rippling the surface.
Spreading onward,
Spreading outward,
As an endless tide.
Each ripple fades,
Slowly speeding away,
To Mother Earth's,
Ultimate, eternal end.

Silent Angel

It slides through shadow,
And across the rooftops.
A scream fills the night.
I can feel it, in my bones,
When it destroys the light.
It stalks my home,
I can feel it now,
In the wood and the stone.
Desperation collapses me.
My family comes to my aid,
“Is it over?” I ask.
But I know the answer,
Everything that was, will now fade.

When You Are Near

When you are near, I feel safe.
When you are near, I am content.
When you are near, I can relax.
When you are near, I smile.
When you are near, I laugh.
When you are near,
I have not a care on Earth.
When you are near,
I can sense your mirth.
When you are near,
I am the happiest I have ever been.
