Julie Jenkins
Kindergarten Teacher
I was born in Preston Idaho and grew up in the small farming/ranching community of Fairview Idaho.  I attended elementary school in Franklin, ironically never attending Kindergarten.  (My husband likes to joke that I still haven't graduated from Kindergarten!!)  I then went to Jefferson Middle School in Preston, and on to Preston High School.  My family moved to another small Cache Valley community, only now in Utah.  We lived in Benson, and I graduated from Sky View High School.

I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, playing school while attending elementary, tutoring first graders when I was in sixth grade, and then volunteering in a Kindergarten classroom while in high school.  I was so enthusiastic about teaching, I even talked my step sister and younger sister into Education!  I also knew that I wanted to go to Utah State University.  Fortunately I was awarded a State Normal Scholarship.  This is a full four year scholarship given to those who are going into Education.  I waived my scholarship for one quarter to attend BYU - Hawaii.  It was a great experience to see what it is like to be in the minority.

I graduated from Utah State University with a dual major, Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education.  That means that I can teach preschool to 8th grade, but my heart belongs to
KINDERGARTEN!!!

My first teaching job was for the Logan City School District where I taught summer school.  I then taught First Grade in Clifton Idaho for the West Side School District.

After getting married and moving to Bountiful, I was employed by Davis County Schools.  I have taught at Oak Hills Elementary (First grade), Farmington Elementary, (Kindergarten), and
Adelaide Elementary (Kindergarten)!!

My husband grew up here and attended
Adelaide.  We have two children, Jessica and Joshua.  They have both graduated from Woods Cross High School.  Josh just recently returned from serving a mission in St. Louis Missouri.   (Wow it seems like yesterday I was typing in that they also attend Adelaide!)

So now my heart belongs to both
KINDERGARTEN and ADELAIDE!!

I like to garden, be outdoors, collect cookbooks and sometimes cook, go to craft boutiques, decorate, shop, play on the computer, travel, and while doing all these things, find fun things to do in
KINDERGARTEN!  I'm always on the lookout for Kindergarten ideas while traveling and on the internet!

I have also grown to LOVE Smiley faces!!  I'm always on the look out for them!
