A smiling face makes this a happy place!!
We have 24 students in our class this year.  We are studying many themes as well as learning about going to school.  We are learning to:  follow directions, social/play skills, scissors skills, and fine motor skills which are beginning handwriting skills.  We use the Houghton Mifflin Reading Program  and Zaner-Bloser for handwriting.
Themes:

The First Day
We listened to "Mrs. Bindergarten Gets Ready
for Kindergarten" and "The Kissing Hand."  We
got to have Recess!!  We watched "Morris Goes to School."  Then we got to draw a picture of our first day.  It was a
great day!!

Colors and Shapes
We read the book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" by
Eric Carle.  We liked the way he did the pictures.
We decided to make our own Brown Bear books.
When we finished them, we took them home and
read them to our families.  We also made a color
game to play with our families.  We are learning
the color words!!

Safety (Playground, School, Bike)

Stranger Danger

I Am Special
We made a special class book to get to know our
friends in Kindergarten.  We like looking at it in our
classroom library.  Soon we will be taking it home
to show our families.

Johnny Appleseed and our Apple Walk
We celebrated Johnny Appleseed's birthday.  We made a hat that looks like a pan, just like Johnny Appleseed.    We went on a Apple Walk.  We got to pick our very own apple!
