Sitting in bed in the hostel in Dublin, Ireland listening to Dave Matthews.  Were both tired and have had a big adventure so far.  Were staying at Litton Lane Hostel, just north of the river Liffey.  The hostel room itself is okay (were on the 4th fl) and has a double bed, wardrobe, skylight, vaulted ceiling and TV that doesnt work.  I was pissed upon arrival cause on hostels.com we thought the room had a bathroom, but doesnt in reality.  The showers
suck and this definitely isnt what I thought I was paying for.  Other than that, its just okay.  Were in the city centre and can walk to most of the sites, which is cool.  Today we went to the Guinness Factory (Guinness Storehouse) and Old Jameson Distillery both impressive, although Guinness much more so since it was more like a museum and occupied 7 levels.  We had dinner in the oldest pub in Dublin, the Brazen Head, built in 1198.
yes, this pub was built in 1198!

Julie got tired of writing last night & shes currently reading the Beatles book, so I will do the writing.  Were at the Dublin airport and waiting (1 hour) for the flight back to Manchester.  Dublins a cool place.  Definitely OLD, but very cosmopolitan and lots of foreigners (American, French, Germans & many others).  The weather is similar to Wales, where it goes from rainy > cloudy > sunny > cloudy fairly quickly.  Ah well, all you can do is be prepared.  Thankfully our hostel wasnt too far off the city center where we were dropped off.  Maybe a few blocks.  The rooms in the hostel were OK, but the bathrooms did indeed suck.  Yesterday I had to do a partial cold shower and that blew.  Today, thankfully, I used a different one and had hot water.  Still crappy water pressure, but I know that goes for all of Europe.  On Ye Olde iPod Im currently cranking Living on a Prayer.  Rock!  After we settled into the hostel we went out and walked around the Temple Bar area.  OK, so most places in Dublin have a pub or 2 on EVERY BLOCK!  Awesome.  So yeah, we went to eat at Quays Kitchen, which was above Quays Bar.  I had trad. Irish stew (meat, taters & carrots) and of course, a Guinness.  Hell yeah!  Julie had some clam chowder and a Heineken.  After the meal we each had a Jameson (whiskey) & Coke and they rocked.  Thats where we got the idea to go to the Distillery.  We wandered around some more, went past Dublin Castle (closed) and also saw the Christ Church Cathedral, which first had a building on the site in 1038.  Yes, the city is OLD!  Then, happy with our previous whiskey, we bought a 5th of Jameson, more cokes, and went back to the hostel.

Yesterday after showers and breakfast we hit the town.  We did the City Tour which took us around a ton of cool places, though, most of which were easily accessible by foot.  Ah well.  Stopped off at Trinity College. Beautiful campus and buildings.  Then we walked over to the Natl Museum of Archeology and History.  It was cool, but we only saw because time was running out and we wanted to be sure to hit Guinness.

the next group of pictures are from the City Tour, on top of the bus.  I can't recall any of the names of the buildings right now.  So just take a look at the great scenery!

Oh, somewhere in there we also went to St. Patricks Cathedral.  Gorgeous.
