That evening we hung out at Marie & Scots, along w/ Mel & Phil, and had an amazing dinner.  We had several types of beer Tetleys, Caffreys, among a few, and the food kept coming.  We had pork pies, veggies & dip, pizza, quiche, onion bhaji, ham, sausages, baked potatoes, garlic bread, and Im sure much more.  Couldnt have been a better first day.  I forgot; we went to one of the top 10 pubs in Britain for lunch, which had a beautiful setting.  It was a fantastic place to eat and have a pint.

Yesterday we got up early and headed to Liverpool.  We drove in under one of the tunnels that goes under the Mersey River.  We parked and headed for the tourist office.  Marie had reserved tickets for us to go to Paul McCartney & John Lennons houses (childhood homes).  It was amazing to see the places where a lot of the Beatles most famous songs were written and to see how they lived day to day while growing up.  James and I then went on the Magical Mystery Tour bus and saw tons and tons of Liverpool scenery, including the cathedral, Albert Dock, as well as more must-sees for Beatles fans.  We saw Georges house, Ringos house, Paul & Johns houses again (outsides only), as well as where they went to school, Liverpool Institute, the Quarry Bank School, Brian Epsteins house, Penny Lane, Strawberry Field and the Cavern.  The tour guide and bus driver both are Liverpool natives and both have connections to the Beatles.  One of them even announced his band will be playing at the Cavern later on, and these guys are in their mid-60s!  We got a cappuccino first thing in Liverpool, then grabbed a sandwich for lunch (and Doritos, which taste a million times better here), which we had to finish at our first stop off the bus at Penny Lane.  We finished the tour by getting dropped off at Matthew Street and walked back to the tourist center to meet up again w/ Marie and Scot.  We all went to the Cavern Club a recreation of the original and had a pint of cider.
