The Maddie Report
Last Thursday Maddie's daycare called and said Maddie was sick and I needed to come and get her. She wasn't sick, she has learned how to fake sickness like a pro. I was already off work to go to a dentist appointment and Wes was at work, so I took her with me. BIG MISTAKE!!! She thought the dental hygienist was going to chop my head off. All the buzzing instruments and lights scared her to death. She stood by the chair and screamed the whole time I sat there. She held my hand and I couldn't talk to her to comfort her except when I would spit. That will teach her not to play hookey from school again.
Maddie was locked in the car this weekend by her grandfather. We were on our way to a family reunion Saturday, and we'd been stopping at yard sales and having a good time. Every time we stopped, one of us would stay in the car with Maddie and entertain her. When we got to town, we passed by a thrift store and decided to stop. My mom and I went in and left dad in charge of Maddie. I left the keys in the car so he could roll down the windows or listen to the radio. He couldn't figure out how to get the windows down on my new car, so he started pushing buttons. He got out to move to the front seat and closed the door. The doors were locked and there sat Maddie in her car seat. he ran in and asked me for an extra key, and of course, I didn't have one. Mom threw down the items she had found and ran to the car. I called 911 and they sent a cop to help. The cop called a tow truck and they unlocked the door. Maddie was OK for the first 20 minutes, but she cried for the last 10. My mom freaked out hasn't been the same since.
Maddie tripped over one of her toys and hit the coffee table with her face. This happened yesterday just before church and she has a swollen cheek and a black eye.
The poor child was abused all weekend long. She is probably glad to be back at school today.
