�I didn�t do anything!� Amy yelled back. Lila turned around.
�I trusted you as a friend! God, to think you�!� Lila stormed off. �It�s over, Amy! I never want to see you again! I don�t like people who spread vicious rumours about me!�
Everyone stopped at those words. Lila continued walking. If everyone thought they were runours, it would blow over. She�d have to stay away from liz for awhile, but at least then she wouldn�t extradited from society. Lila stopped, leaning against the wall. When did everything get so hard? When you love somebody, it should be about he two of you, not anyone else. Other people�s opinions don�t matter! The world is supposed to cease to exist, leaving only the two of you in it.
Lila held back a sob. She did care. When picking boyfriends, she always chose guys with a certain car, and a certain amount of money. Looks and image meant everything to her.
�I didn�t tell anyone about Liz. If I cared for her so much, if I really didn�t care what other people thought, I would�ve told them.� She picked herself off the wall, decided to skip the rest of the day. She couldn�t deal with the scary thought that her image was more important to her than Elizabeth.

Enid was picking at her lunch. She�d heard the fight between Lila and Amy. What Lila had said�Enid could no longer hold back her thoughts. It was true! It was all true! Lila and Liz were together.
�Why didn�t Liz trust me?� She thought. Ok, it was weird, but Liz was her friend. She wasn�t going to rat out on her because of that!
Suddenly, Enid remembered all the times Liz had tried to tell her. That she always looked at Lila with a haunted look in her eyes. That Lila returned that look. Enid laughed out loud. �I�m so stupid!�
Winston came towards her, a pleading look on his face. Enid stood up abruptly. She may accept Liz�s decision, but she wouldn�t accept Winston�s actions. Somewhere, on some level, she knew Winston didn�t do it. Winston would never do that. But she was afraid of her feelings for him. This was the perfect excuse to give them space and time to think.

Elizabeth walked quickly through the car park. There was no way she could stay in school any longer. She�d told Jessica she was leaving earlier. Jess had mentioned she was studying with someone, but Liz was too caught up in her own problems to notice Jessica�s face.
�Liz,� a strangled voice whispered. Liz looked up, seeing Lila sitting in her car.
With a quick look, Liz ducked down next to Lila.
�What is it?� She whispered, a tear in her eye.
�Oh, sugar, you�re so beautiful.� Lila wiped her face with her hand, turning away from Liz. �We�ve got to break it off.� Liz gasped.
�Why?�
�Because. I can�t lose face in front of these people! I have a reputation to uphold, Liz!� Lila refused to look at Liz�s face, knowing she�d break down. But she had to do it.
�It�s just vicious rumours Amy spread because she�s jealous of me, ok?�
�No!� Lila looked at Liz in shock. �NO! It�s not ok! I love you, Lila! I love you so much I can�t bear to spend a single moment away from you! I want us to grow old together! To sleep in the same bed! I want to wale up to your face every morning,� Liz finished in a whisper. Lila couldn�t believe the amount of love Liz had for her.
�I�m sorry, Liz. But that�s it.� She slammed the door, and turned the engine. Liz jumped back as Lila peeled out of the car park.
�Dammit!� Liz yelled. She collapsed on the ground, crying. �Don�t leave me, Lila. Life is unbearable without you.�
Lila drove out, tears blinding her view. �God, I�m so sorry, Liz. I love you more than you will ever know�.

Ms Dalton sat at her office. She�d heard the rumours. She also knew Liz and Lila were together. She�d seen the looks they�d given each other.
�I�d hate to be a teenager and coming out,� she thought. She knew she could do something about it. But what if it cost her her job?
She shook her head. �Something has to be done. And I�m the one to do it.�
