Jess got out of bed, still in disbelief over her actions the last few days. What was going on with her? She slept with Todd! Todd! She hated Todd! Jess walked into the bathroom and joined her sister at the bathroom.
�Hey, Jess,� Liz mumbled, her eyes strained and tired. Now Jess felt guilty.
�Hey, Liz,� she muttered back, pouring toothpaste onto her toothbrush.
�We don�t seem to talk that much anymore, sis,� Liz turned to her, watching her brush her teeth before spitting into the sink. Jess ignored her.
�I don�t know what�s going on in your life,� Liz said, smiling softly. Jess turned back.
� I don�t know about you, either.� She hesitated. �I heard you�you have a boyfriend, don�t you?� Liz looked shocked, and took a step back.
�No, I don�t have a boyfriend, Jess,� she whispered softly, before heading into her room. Jess spat out her paste and followed her.
�But I heard you�� Liz turned to look at Jess, a pained look on her face. Jessica could see her sister�s face turn into anguish as she battled to tell her something. �What is it?�

Liz turned away. How do you explain to your sister that you�re in love with her best friend?
�It�s nobody, Jess,� she whispered.
�It�s Todd, isn�t it?� Jessica asked her, her voice shrilling loudly. Liz giggled. Todd? Todd had been a distraction for her, to prevent her from opening up to her true feelings. When he dumped her, she was free.
�It�s not Todd.� She smiled at Jessica, who ran up and hugged her.
�Thank god.� Jess turned and left Liz alone.

The halls of Sweet Valley High were filled with happy teens as they contemplated the following day off. Voices spoke in high toned as people arranged beach outings, shopping trips and secret rendezvous.
Lila opened her locker only to see a small piece of paper fly out. She instantly recognised Liz�s handwriting.
Lila,
A small picnic in your gardens sounds like a brilliant way to spend the day�I can�t wait.
Lila smiled. Now her day was complete.
�Oh Lila!� A very high voice yelled down the hallway. Lila groaned. God damn that Winston!
�What do you want, Egg-head?� She muttered. He smiled goofily.
�Just looking forward to the party this weekend.� He leaned forward anxiously. �I am invited, aren�t I?� Lila�s eyes widened. Shit! She�d forgotten the party that weekend.
�Of course, Egbert,� she muttered, slamming her locker. She needed to find Jessica straight away.
As the flurry of Lila Fowler stalked down the hallway, Winston noticed the piece of paper fluttering to the fround. He read it slowly, trying to digest its meaning�

Jessica sat underneath the tree, trying to sort herself out. She didn�t know what was happening to her. She�d gone to Todd�s house to make him want her, but they ended up having sex. And now she couldn�t stop thinking about him.
�Jessica!� I�ve been looking everywhere for you!� Lila Fowler walked up, followed closely by Amy and Cara. Jessica looked up in annoyance.
�Geez, don�t jump up my ass, or anything!� Cara giggled.
�Look, the party!� Lila yelled, collapsing on a heap next to Jessica.
Her eyes widened.
�The party! Oh my god! I forgot!� They all nodded.
�We all did.� At a nod, Cara began pulling out a folder, filled with party items. �So, what are we going to do? We have 3 days!� They small group began talking quickly, yelling and argueing before drowning into submission.

Liz and Enid walked past them, ignoring their voices. �Liz, how can you not go? Everyone will be there! We�ll have fun! We�ll dance, we�ll eat, we�ll drink!� Enid laughed at that one. They sat down in a deserted patch of grass.
�I can�t, Enid. It�s just�� Liz glanced over at Lila. Enid followed her gaze. She�d heard some rumours about Jessica and Todd�but she kept quiet for the sake of her friend.
�Look, you can forget about Todd�� Liz laughed.
�Why does everyone think this is about Todd?� She demanded. Enid leaned back.
�What�s going on then?� Enid saw Liz�s eyes divert back to Lila before they focussed on an object in the distance.
�I�ll tell you later. Winston!� She yelled, inviting their friend over.

The last bell rang for the day. Lila left the building and headed for the shops. She had supplies to buy. Liz and Jess walked out together, laughing, back to their old ways. Little did they know the secrets they were hiding from each other. Enid walked out, confused about the behaviour of her best friend, and hurt that she was alone the next day. Until Winston grabbed her arm and made her promise to visit him the next day. Winston, who knew too much.
Amy remained at the top of the stairs. She knew that something was awakening inside of her. She had to get rid of it. She only had one chance.
�I�ll tell Lila tomorrow,� she whispered, praying that it would all work out.

The Wakefield house was quiet that night. Their parents were still in San Francisco. Steven was snuggling in his room with his girlfriend. Jessica sat on the floor of her room, hiding her confusion in a cleaning spree. Liz lay in bed, dreaming of tomorrow.
