What Killed Nemo?
...Diagnosing Them Is Like a Detective Solving a Mystery
INTRODUCTION
SICKENING. ALARMING. IT'S DIFFICULT TO FIND A GOOD WORD TO DECIDE the experience of gazing upon the swollen, rotting carcasses of Nemo and his friends scattered over the surface of the Great Barrier River.

The fish were dying by the thousands. No one knew why. Experts   at the South Fork Department of Natural Resources (DNR) were scratching their heads, unable to explain why the dead Nemo, Bloat, Bruce, and other fish were floating on a three-mile stretch of the Great Barrier River that flows through the city of Sierra Nevada. Fish kills are often the result of natural causes, such as the stress of spawning or a lack of dissolved oxygen. But the scientific sleuths discovered no lack of dissolved oxygen in the water. Another answer had to be found.

In this WebQuest, your group will become an investigation team in search of the cause of Nemo and his friends' death in Great Barrier River. Each member of your group will take a special investigation role. Let the investigation begin!

THE TASK
Each team member will assume one of the four roles: water resource specialist, chemist A, chemist B, and a news reporter. Working hand in hand as a team, your job is to investigate the cause of the fish kill. Bear in mind that the 2 chemists and the reporter cannot proceed  with their assigned tasks unless the water resource specialist is done with his.
THE PROCESS
