Dear Parents,
As parents, it is sometimes difficult to decide if a morning tummy ache, cough or stuffy nose is the real thing, and we ask ourselves, "Should I keep my child home today?" Here at my Home Day Care, I strive to provide a safe and healthy environment for everyone to be in.
We as parents need to learn to "read" our children. Children who are really sick NEED to stay home. When sick children are kept at home, they recover more quickly and are less likely to have reoccurrences of illness. Also, they are less likely to spread the disease germs to other children and to the care taker and her family.
Children need to be reminded to wash their hands thoroughly and often. Encourage children to wash after blowing their nose, coughing or sneeaing on their hands and after going to the bathroom. If blowing their nose or coughing is uncontrollable and continual it is almost impossible for a care giver to keep that child clean. Hands need to be washed before touching food, eyes or faces. Most cold germs are spread through hand contacts. Your child attending day care being sick will spread thes germs very quickly when he/she plays with toys that other children play with throughout the day as-well-as contact with the other children and care giver.
Be aware of other sicknesses other than the common cold. The list below will help you in deciding if your child is well enough to attend Day Care. If you have questions on an illness that is not listed, it can be handled on an individual basis, by calling the care giver before arriving at Day Care.
Please be considerate of your child and everyone your child comes in contact with and keep them home when they are sick.
