| ~ PARENT ACTIVITIES ~ The theme this month is: TAKING CARE OF MYSELF Auther of the Month is: Mercer Mayer BOOK SUGGESTIONS by Mercer Mayer All By Myself I Was So Mad Just Go To Bed When I Get Bigger SONG FOR THE MONTH "Good Grooming" Sung to "Mulberry Bush" This is the way we wash our face, Wash our face, wash our face. This is the way we wash our face, So early in the morning. This is the way we brush our teeth, Brush our teeth, brush our teeth. This is the way we brush our teeth, So early in the morning. (Add movements and other verses such as comb hair, each breakfast, make our bed etc) You can sing this song with your child and just dance around the house for fun or actually sing the song while doing an activity that you are singing about. When I Get Bigger Game Sit down with your child with some paper and something to write with. Have them tell you all the things that they think they will want to do or be when they "Get Bigger". Make a list of these things. Have them pretend that they are bigger and act them out. You can also have your child draw you a picture to go with what they said they would like to be. (My daughter had done this when she was 4 with a very special friend. Upon her graduation from high school he had the list and pictures laminated and included them with a special letter to her.) We don't realize the memories that can be brought back to our children as they get older by taking the time to do these these little things with them, and tucking them away for safe keeping.
