| MARCH ~ CURRICULUM HELPER Courtesy of Child Care of The Berkshires |
| NATURE HOMES Get three pieces of cardboard or three shoe boxes. On one, put a picture of water (you can draw one or cut a picture out of a magazine). On another, put a picture of land. On the thrid one, put a picture of the sky. Cut out pictures of various animals. Have some that fly, some that swim and some that live on land. Ask children to match the animals with the places that they belong. Some animals will have more than one that match. You can also use small plastic life like animals instead of pictures. WILD ONES Write a list of silly names of nonexistent creatures (kinkablub, sappabird, octophant). Tell the children they are taking a trip to a zoo from another world. Give them the names of some of the creatures in the zoo and have them use their imaginations to draw these creatures. When their pictures are done ask them: "Where do the creatures live?, What do they eat?, How do they behave?" School age children can write their own lists of creatures and write stories about them. |
