Life
is a pill
The airwaves are overflowing with messages from the pharmaceutical industry. It has become impossible to pick up a magazine, newspaper, or any reading material with ads that does not contain a drug insert. We hear the quick and loud suggestions to ease your small little woes but more silently and quickly they give the list of horrible side effects of their miracle pills, which is often a much larger list of bad than good results. We have certainly come a long way in the medical frontier, people are living longer, but we are still very unhealthy. This is my point of view from my own observations. In this dog-eat-dog world, we have to make the best of things and go about our own unique paths, and during our travels it is best to do so with open eyes. I observed groups of elderly individuals, each more than likely had a very good medical health insurance program. They drove the newest of vehicles, wore the best top of the line clothes, in all reality they were of the upper crust in our society. I saw them in an Italian restaurant, one that my teenage children and I went to in order to eat a salad for lunch. We watched with our mouths gasped as these elderly people ordered large plates of ziti, lasagna and Italian sausages, yet not one were touching their side salads. They stuffed themselves with food that I would have avoided even in my teen years. I came to a conclusion that the cholesterol lowering, anti-gas, and anti-indigestion drugs they ingest are similar to what bottled acids does for our over-worked, under-cared for house pipes. But who in their right minds would continue to dump waste products into the kitchen sink knowing its going to cause major clogs just because they have a good supply of drain cleaner?
The
Way of Healing
When we observe a flowing stream, the water is full of life, caressing the rocks, feeding the plants along its banks. Spiritually we are drawn to it; it lifts our spirits, and soothes our souls. The more water we drink, the better our bodies become, in the same way as in comparing a flowing stream with a stagnant pond, you have to keep the water flowing to avoid fermenting gases. Other observations I have seen, when people start to take herbal supplements, they swallow the pills and head out the door. It is an often fact that what they just took can cause their bodies to release years worth of stored toxins. One case was a woman who started taking Chinese herbs. Within a two-day span of time, she was so sick she was raced into the hospital doubled over in pain. If she had drank enough water to flush her system of the released toxins, she wouldn't have had to contend with the severe pain she had to face, nor the cost of the medical attention. In 2001, I met a registered nurse that was my daughters best friends mother, she was pale, and near lethargic heading out the door to meet her health practitioner in hopes to be prescribed an antibiotic strong enough to kill "the flu bug" she felt she had caught. I asked her about the supplements she takes, and she quickly gave me a nice long list of multi-vitamins supplemented with common and varying vitamin pills but I caught that she didn't take enough vitamin C, 1000 milligrams daily is minimal. Then she adds that she started taking an herbal supplement four days ago, one she had ordered from the back of a magazine, which claimed to help with breast enlargement. I asked her to be totally honest with me and to tell me how much water she had been drinking with the four herbal pills it recommended. She admitted that she took 6 to 8 pills a day and drank only two glasses of water on average. I explained to her how herbs can release toxins that are stored within our fat cells and if she would drink 8 glasses of water today and take 1000 milligrams of vitamin C every hour, within two hours her headache and ill feelings will subside. She's now a firm believer in drinking water and really pushes patience on her hospital floor to drink that container of water much more sincerely because she experienced an eye-opening quick cure, not a cover-up of the symptoms. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, our bodies can store oils but not water bases, especially when it utilizes it so quickly in repairing damaged cells. This vitamin can flush toxins from our systems and should never be over-looked when you are working towards becoming healthy.
