Julia Turner's opera debut came at the age of three, as Dolore in Madama Butterfly. Since then, she has continued her performing career, both on and off the opera stage. Her roles include Leila in Les Pecheurs de Perles, both Donna Anna and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Alice Ford in Verdi�s Falstaff, Blanche in Poulenc�s Dialogues of the Carmelites, and Adele in Die Fledermaus. In Chicago, she appeared in several productions with L�Opera Piccola, and sang the role of Sarah in the mid-west premiere of Patience and Sarah by American composer Paula Kimper. Julia's oratorio repertoire includes the Requiem masses of both Faure and Brahms, the Glorias of Poulenc, Vivaldi and Stanford, and the Troisieme Lecon de Tenebre of Couperin. Some highlights of Julia�s career have been studying art song in France with acclaimed pianist and coach Dalton Baldwin, and singing as a regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Awards in Chicago. In addition to operatic and oratorio performances, Julia is an active recitalist specializing in French art song. |
