Jamu is traditional Indonesian herbal medicine
Jamu is a general term for the unique system of traditional medicine in Indonesia. Indonesian herbal medicine was known in Central Java, Indonesia, since Majapahit era.
Characteristics of Jamu
Jamu is based on the fact that is God created the World, with Disease and its Remedy. Besides, Indonesia has very-complete medicinal herbs, one of the world's largest collection.
Jamu is not prescribed by medical doctors in Indonesia yet.
Eventhough Indonesian people use Jamu for hundred years, Indonesian Doctors still hold the principle of Western Medical School of thought. But, nowadays, some university in Indonesia conducting some Clinical Trial on Jamu product after knowing the active constituent of Jamu.
