Tour Diary--Days 4 and 5
Day Four:
I woke up bright and early and promptly went back to sleep. Got up eventually, in any case, and ate waffles and yogurt for breakfast. We went to Festival Bay, which is a charming mall--a very big, charming mall.
I immediately bought a pair of sunglasses for ten dollars. They sort of make me feel like Holly Golightly--I love them! We also bought jewelry at Black Market Minerals. Necklaces and jingly bell things that I've discovered Chad hates. :)
Singing was a dizzying affair. We were packed in together in the hot sun, and I got to feeling poorly. Mads, Singers, and Divine all sang, and Divine sounded less than. They were out of key, Liz sang all too loud, and it was a miserable affair all around.
We had lunch after that, and Chad was the only one willing to get Fudruckers with me--so went there are had a quiet lunch. I got churros from a churro place for dessert--yay, meal vouchers.
Then we went to Universal Studios: Islands of Adventure and headed straight for Spiderman. I was with Leah, Michelle, and Kyla. We met up with Yassie, Caleb, and Maddie in line--a very long line, might I add. Three rooms of waiting and an outside portion! When we were outside, though, people were throwing around a beachball, which made things very much less dull. There was music, too, and when Usher's "Hey" came on, Leah put a hand up like she was some kind of ghetto superstar. I told her to put her arm down--she looked like such a 'burb against the black people behind us. Spiderman was awesome, even though it took forever and Kyla lost her glasses halfway through. We yelled and leaned back from all the flying-at-us things.
We spent twenty minutes to figure out where to go next before deciding to split up. Leah and Michelle would stay at IOA and we would go to Studios. When we got over there, though, we weren't able to get in. Had we gone there first, we would have, but the tickets were either-or.
Deciding to make the best of it, we went back to IoA and "rode the couch"--they've got a Cat in the Hat ride which is, in effect, watching the book and riding around on a couch. Once we'd left, Kyla wanted to get some ice cream, and a group came along while we waited (her for ice cream, me for water). When we were done, Caleb, Yassie, and Maddie were gone--the ultimate ditch.
That didn't mean we were alone, though. In line for the couch, we saw another group--Jenni Surname, Chad, Ariana Surname, and Steph Surname--and did the polite thing and waved. They waved back, we made a bit of small talk across the lines--and then they said it: "We'll wait for you at the end!" Cue eyepopping, sweatdropping, and prayers that they didn't honestly mean that.
They did. We lost Jenni-Ariana-Steph quickly as we headed for a walking tour/show called Poseidon's Fury. Chad stayed with us and we had an immensely good time standing there. I told Chad that we were giving Kyla a new name and that her first name would be Monique "Mique." His only suggestion for a middle name was Stupid Bitch, which we nixed pretty quickly.
Poseidon's Fury was like riding a bad 80s fantasy movie--which made it fun. We discovered that Kyla didn't know what D&D was and that Chad wouldn't ride anything that would drop, have sharp turns, or get him wet, which eliminated most of our choices. He sat outside with my bag while Kyla and I rode the Flying Unicorn (a "wussy rollercoaster," as Yassie calls them) and the Jurassic Park River Adventure (which has oh noes the splashing water).
We stopped to eat at the Jurassic Park's restaurant and ate a relatively good meal, considering it was a voucher dinner. While we ate, we had a decent conversation. Chad told us what other horrific things happened at the couch. While they stood in line, Ariana found a cute guy and got him to flirt with the dude. She walked up to Joe Random and said, "My friend thinks you're cute." She pointed at Chad, who waved and smiled.
We couldn't get him to go on the Flying Unicorn the second time around either, but he rode the carousel and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish with us--stating that it was under duress and if anyone asked about the pictures, he'd been threatened at knife-point or some such nonsense.
That was the day. Kyla and I rode One Fish again, we went with Chad to do Spiderman once more, and we gave our Mique a Mormon middle name--Ceilingette. Then we went home and to bed.
Day Five:
As I woke up first, I took a shower bright and early, which was nice. It didn't look nearly as horrible as it did the day previous.
