I cannot laugh, I cannot cry
I cannot sleep, I cannot eat;
I cannot sit here idly by
While blood is spilt upon my street.
I cannot work, I cannot play
I cannot live another day
While tears are shed in memory
Of those who've been taken away.
I cannot love, I cannot hate
And nothing can my anger sate
Except revenge for evils great
Now perpetrated on my state.
I cannot dream, I cannot hope
I cannot sit nor stand up tall,
I cannot grieve nor can I cope
With acts of those who had such gall
To rise up and upon our soil
Declare themselves our enemy,
To hope we'd cower and recoil
From threats that we may never see.
They sought to rip our house apart
And never see it stand again
By striking fear into our heart,
By killing our innocent men.
This is a call to arms my friends,
A time to stand up with one voice,
For peaceful days are at their ends
And we are left without a choice.
They may destroy our buildings strong,
And strike us where we are yet weak;
They may prepare for struggles long,
To gain vile victories they seek;
They may take blood, they may take lives,
They may attack from hidden hives,
They may use bombs, they may use knives,
They may destroy husbands and wives,
But they cannot destroy our pride,
Not faith, not strength, not what's inside;
Today our freedom's been denied,
That value by which we abide;
Today the sky is black above
With smoke, with hate, with villainy
That's bloodied now the once soft dove
And thrown it to the stormy sea.
But as the dove we shall not drown
Nor perish at such evil's hands,
We will not stand for going down-
We will return to native sands
Where we shall heal the wounds we bear
And polarize our anger's breadth
So we can strike back without fear
And see our bold aggressor's death.
To ends of Earth now must we go
To find those who would dare to name
Themselves as our eternal foe,
And those who assist them, the same.
We are not weak, we are not gone,
We're damaged but we are not beat;
Today is black but morrow's dawn
Shall show no signs of our defeat.
They have attacked us where we live
But we are not here vanquished yet;
We can take all they have to give-
If war they want, then war they'll get.
And now fight fire with fire we must,
We must avenge our brother's grave,
We must adhere to what is just
So our great freedoms we can save.
We must make known to all who dare
To call themselves our enemies
That injustice we shall not bear,
Nor will we such hatred appease.
Now is the time friends to declare
That by no means are we yet done;
Before this day has left the air
We'll see our righteous vengeance won.
