Assigned as a persona poem by an impossible speaker, another one. For this one, I decided to write another anti-war piece, this time using the idea of a soldier waiting to die at Verdun. For those who don't know about Verdun, go here. The point was that this soldier was not there for a greater good, but was rather just waiting to die. I tried to make it ambivalent as to which side the soldier was on, because that is not as important as the fact that he is there and he will more than likely not live through this event. I won't say I don't believe in war, but I do have to say that humanity is guilty of plenty of things that are stupid and only work against us. So here you have it kiddies: war is bad. Don't do it.
