Be was assigned as a prose peom retelling a well known story, myth, or narrative. So I chose Superman. I may have modified the original a tad, but I feel the idea that it is Superman still comes through to those familiar with the comic. The point I was trying to make here is that sometimes as a society we push certain people into certain roles, or even as individuals we push ourselves into wholly determined roles, though nobody wants to be this role that is forced on them. In the end though, it is more important to be that person sometimes, to be able to function as an integral part of something larger. This dichotomy between individual and society is something I devote lots of thought to now, because I feel as though it is this relationship that is the most crucial in the scope of human existence. And who better to illustrate this sort of relationship than Superman?
