The Beatles... and "why I love them!"
Everyone and their fish has heard of the Beatles, I'm sure. If not, you've come to a good starting point! I'm here to give you trivial facts, rare info, and a listing of some of my favorite things about the Beatles. Most of all - it'll be FUN! :)
First there was John. John Lennon began in a group called the Quarrymen. He was a guitarist and was joined by friend Stu Sutcliffe, who was the bassist, and others including drummer temp Tommy Moore, later replaced by Pete Best. Please keep in mind that these may not have been the original members... they seemed to be replaced quite often as someone better suited for their position came along!. Then came Paul. John met Paul McCartney through someone who attended the Liverpool Institute with Paul. He joined the Quarrymen as a guitarist. Saving the best for last... almost... George! George Harrison was introduced to the Quarrymen by Paul, who met George at school. Although a year younger than Paul and three years younger than John, George was accepted into the group because of his amazing guitar skills. (That's my boy!) John, Paul, George and Tommy played as "The Silver Beetles" in Scotland. Pete Best began to sit in as the drummer with John, Paul and George and eventually stayed on. Last but not least, there was Ringo! John, Paul, and George had seen Ringo Starr (born Richard Starkey) drumming for another band, Rory and the Hurricanes. They first met Ringo in 1960 while playing in Germany. Ringo would drunkenly request that the Beatles play slow songs because he liked the "bluesy" feel. Pete would never hang out with the guys, but Ringo definitely had that something that Pete was missing. Brian Epstein became the Beatles' manager, alongisde of George Martin. After two years of Pete, George conspired with Paul and John to get Ringo in the band. They kicked Pete out and Ringo joined, creating the band lovingly known both in the 1960's and today as "The Fab Four."
