Stratford-on-Avon, supposedly the birthplace of William Shakespeare is a lovely town. Shakespeare's cottage is kept as it was in the old days and a visit to Anne Hathaway's Cottage is just magic. It brings to life the stories that we have heard over the years.
The fabulous York Minster
To London via Oxford where we inspected the town and were allowed visit the hallowed halls of All Saints College. Jules can now say that she has been to Oxford University.

A final look around London and visit to Buckingham Palace, Harrods (take your money with you) and Horseguards before boarding our flight home.
Jules felt quite at home in the dining hall of
All Saints College, Oxford
York has its fabulous Minster and a myriad of ghost stories attached to the old town.
A nightly ghost tour of York is not to be missed with a narrator who is very skilled in that area.
Just be careful that you aren't locked inside the inner city for the night.
Anne Hathaway's Cottage -
a little piece of history.
We spent a week in Scotland which you can see on the next page and then back to England for a stop in York.
The cottage in which William Shakespeare is believed to have been born.
One more castle to inspect... Warwick Castle is just out of Stratford and is magic particularly for the youngsters. Knights on horseback and maidens in distress are just some of the living pageant that the visitors can appreciate.
We learnt so much about our past and came to appreciate and understand just exactly what our forefathers went through to give us the life that we in Australia have now. To them we must always be thankful.
The Shambles in York.
The Shambles is the ancient street of the Butchers of York, mentioned in the Domesday Book of William the Conqueror.
The name is taken from the work 'Shamel' meaning the stalls or benches on which the meat was displayed.
