Welcome!
So, on this page you can find - as the name of the page suggests - Mongolian folktales, informations about the different Mongolian scripts and also about Mongolian history - if I ever find the time to put something together and upload it.
You may ask yourself how I got the idea to this page? And what exactly qualifies me?
Well, I did Mongolian studies at university. The German term is "Mongolistik" - and can't be found in any dictionary, it seems. Which is okay, I guess, since it isn't listed in the German dictionary either and most people tend to think it is connected to mongolism anyway. Well, it is about the Mongolian language, culture and history.
My master thesis was about the narrative structure of Mongolian animal tales. I also worked about picaresque tales I plan, hope, want, wish to keep working about oral poetry.
In my time at university I also wrote a paper about the different Mongolian scripts. But as was the case with Mongolian folktales when I tried to find information about either of those topics I didn't find much. Not much at all. And so I decided to change that - hence this webside.
Oh, and in case you're wondering... No, English is not my native language. That would be German. I tried my very best not to make too many mistakes. If you do find one, just write me an email and I'll correct it as soon as possible. You can reach me at:
And of course, I would be happy to get any kind of feedback. Well, except hate mail, obviously. :-)
Or you could just sign my guestbook which you can find at the Index page. You can get there by clicking on the link in the frame that's named "back to Enter".
So, just make yourself comfortable and take a look around! And if you got here by searching Yahoo or something and wonder where those tales are - please follow this link to get back to the index page.
And now all that remains to be said is: Have fun here!
