| A few days later it was the weekend and Josh was waiting for a phone call from Brian, when the phone rang. "Hello?" Josh answered. "Hey Josh it's Brian." Brian replied. "Hey are you here?" "Yeah we just got in, where do you want to meet?" "Um, 'Rosie's Cafe' in Jackson, you know where it is right?" "Yeah we'll see you there, in an about an hour?" Brian asked. "Yeah less time then that probably about 30 minutes." "Ok see you then bro." Josh smiled, "Bye." He turned to Lance and Justin, "You guys ready?" "Yeah I'm just gonna change into something more comfortable." Justin said and went upstairs to get dressed. Josh and Lance walked to the door and Josh hesitated at the door. Lance layed his hand on Josh's arm, "Darlin' are you okay?" "I-I'm scared." Josh admitted quietly. Lance wrapped his arms around Josh and held him gently, "It's okay to be scared baby, but you're just going to meet your family." "That's what I'm afraid of." Josh said his face pressed into Lance's shoulder. Lance nuzzled his cheek against Josh's, "Baby I will be there with you and the moment you get uncomfortable I will do something and get you out of there." Josh held Lance tightly, "I'm so scared, what if they don't like me." Lance leaned back and took Josh's face between his hands, "Baby they will love you, just forget that they're Brian and Kevin from Backstreet Boys, you're just going to see Bri and Kev, your family." Josh gave Lance a small smile, "I love you." Lance smiled back, "I love you so much." And he leaned forward and kissed Josh sweetly. As they broke apart Josh smiled, "Okay let's go." They walked to the car and waited until Justin came out and they drove to the meeting place and Lance parked the car. "Are you okay with this darlin'?" Lance asked concerned. Josh released a breath, "Yeah, it's just Bri and Kev, just Bri and Kev." "It'll be fine." Lance squeezed Josh's thigh, "Come on darlin'" Josh nodded and got out of the car and walked to the entrance of the cafe and opened the door he spotted Brian and Kevin and walked over to them. "Hey." Brian smiled up at Josh. "Hey." Kevin said smiling reassuringly. "Hey Bri, hey Kev." Josh replied shyly and nervously. "Have a seat." Brian said motioning to the chairs. "Thanks." Josh said and sat down, smiling at Lance and Justin as they sat close to him; protectively. "So," Brian began arkwardly, "What do we talk about?" Josh wrung his hands nervously, "Um, I, er, I really want to know why I was adopted." Brian and Kevin locked eyes and nodded to eachother. "Josh," Kevin began, "Your mom couldn't take care of all of you, so she had you and your sister adopted..." Josh frowned, "I have a sister?" Brian smiled, "Yeah and you know her, she was just really scared to talk to either of us but mama finally told me when we started the group who she was now." "Who is she?" Josh asked quietly, processing this new information. "I would love to tell you but I should ask her first if I can and then you can meet her." Brian answered. Josh smiled uncertainly, "Okay, this is a lot to process all at once." "I know and I'm so sorry Karen and Roy didn't tell you sooner." Brian paused, "If you don't mind me asking why did they tell you now?" "Baby are you okay to answer this?" Lance asked concerned. Josh thought for a moment before answering, "Yeah I am James, they're my family so I should tell them." "Okay." Lance whispered and discreetly held Josh's hand under the table. Josh took comfort from Lance's hand clasping his own, "I told them I was bisexual and they, er, didn't take it very well to say the least, basically they disowned me and I ran out and drove away and got into the car accident." "Oh my God!" Kevin said. "How could they do that?" Brian said horrified. "It gets better my mo- Karen showed up the day after my birthday and told me I wasn't really their son that I was adopted and she told me I was born in Laurel so we called up Lance's mom and she said she knew who I was, who I really was and she said you were my brother." "I can't believe it, mom thought she was putting you in a good home with Karen and Roy." Brian said upset. "It was, when I was growing up except Tyler, the moment I was on MMC and became friends with Justin we started fighting he hated Justin and the rest of the guys, I'm not quite sure why but I don't really care anymore." "Josh I'm your brother and I could never turn you away for who you love, I may not have known you for 18 years of your life but I hope to make up for that now," Brian looked at Kevin, "We both do." "Yeah Josh, I remember when you were 4 years old and I came to visit we played in the park for hours," Kevin smiled at the memory, "You loved it, I pushed you on the swing and your little face lit up and you said..." "'Kevvie push me higher I wanna reach the sky.'" Josh whispered. Kevin looked up in shock, "You remember, how?" Josh swallowed, "It was a dream, I didn't know why but I kept dreaming that somebody; you, was pushing me on the swings and I wanted to go higher," Josh smiled, "I wanted to float with the clouds." "I can't believe you remember." Kevin said amazed. "I thought it was a dream I didn't know it was a memory." "Do you remember anything else?" Brian asked. "I not quite sure, I've had plenty of dreams over the years." Josh answered. Brian smiled, "That's okay, if you remember anything call one of us, we should know if it's a memory or not." The waitress came by and asked for their orders. "I'll have a coffee and a turkey sandwiche." Josh replied. "I'll have the same thank you." Lance said. "I'll have a coke and the pie." Justin said. "Thank you sirs, anything for you." She asked. "No thank you." Kevin replied. "I'll have a refill please." Brian asked smiling at her. "I'll be back soon with your orders." She said and left. "So what have you been doing?" Brian asked. "Oh well we're on tour, at the moment we're on a break which is lucky as I've got to heal but I should be fine for the second leg." Josh answered. "I've heard your album I think it's great and I love your songs Josh, they're great very dancy." Kevin said. "Thank you." Josh said a blush staining his cheeks, "We're very proud of this album and after everything that happened last year all the success were having at the moment is amazing." "It's such a blessing." Lance added. "Yeah, I wanted to call you after I heard the news of the lawsuit but I didn't exactly know what to say," Brian smiled, "Mom prayed for you." Josh smiled, "Well looks like her prayers were answered. Thank you for thinking of me, and if you'd of called me I don't know what I would've said as I didn't know we were related." "Well I'm glad thats all changed now and I've got a chance to get to know you." "Me too." Josh said smiling at his brother. Then their food came and they chatted for hours until Lance looked at his watch and realised it was getting late. "We better go baby, it's getting late." Lance said. "Okay." Josh said to Lance, "Are you guys staying?" "Yeah, we're staying at a hotel, call us and we'll meet up." Brian answered. "We're staying for a week." Kevin added. Josh smiled at them, "Sure, it was really nice talking to you. I'll talk to you later." "See you Josh." Brian said and hugged him. Josh hugged him back, "Bye Brian." Kevin stood up and embraced Josh, "See you soon cuz." Josh smiled, "You too cuz. I walk you to your car." Josh, Brian and Kevin walked to their car with Justin and Lance trailing them. "Bye." Josh yelled as Brian and Kevin drove off. "You guys ready?" "Actually I'm staying for a bit I'll meet you back later." Justin said. "Okay." Josh said and hugged Justin and watched him as he walked off, then JC got in to the car. Lance got in the car and drove back to his house. Josh got out of the car and walked to the door and opened it, as he walked in he gasped in shock, "Oh my God Lance!" |
