| Mary got pregnant from a kid named Tom who said he was in love Mary couldnt believe what a mess her life had turned into. Her boyfriend of four years, whom she loved very much, had just dumped her because she was pregnant. She hadnt wanted to get pregnant, it was an accident, but she never in a million years thought Tom would leave her because of it. She thought he had loved her. But she was wrong. He said don't worry about a thing baby doll I'm the man you've been dreamin' of They had only talked about the future one or two times and Mary was always the one to bring up the topic. She thought she was going to spend the rest of her life with Tom. When she would ask him, hed just say not to worry about it, that theyd talk about it later. She was usually satisfied with his answer and after, he would give her a kiss, and whisper sweet nothings in her ear. Thats all they were to him, she thought bitterly, nothing. But three months later he said he won't date her or return her call Mary had tried many times to get in contact with Tom, but she wasnt sure where he had gone. He couldve gone many places, and she had called almost every place she could think of. She still loved him and wanted him to be a part of the babys life, even though she knew that would probably never happen. She knew he had some famous friend that he would sometimes stay with when he was in town. She knew where Toms friend lived because she had written it down in her address book. She decided to give it a try so she drove over to his friends house. A gorgeous man with beautiful blue eyes opened the door with a curious look, Can I help you? he asked. Yes, my names Mary. You are a friend of Toms, right? she asked shyly. Yeah, my name is Josh, nice to meet you, he answered her. You too. Tom isnt staying here is he? Mary questioned. No, hes not here, sorry. I actually havent seen him in a while. Why? Is he missing? Josh told her. Well, he sort of left me Mary trailed off. What? Why? Josh asked, surprised that his friend would leave such a beautiful girl. Because Im pregnant, Mary said in almost a whisper. Oh man, what an asshole, Josh replied. And sweared god damn if I find that man I'm cuttin' off his balls Mary was surprised by Joshs reaction. She thought hed call her a whore or something for getting pregnant. After all, thats what Tom had called her numerous times. Mary just stood there while Josh fumed at the idea of his friend leaving her. She didnt know what to do. When Josh had finished swearing under his breath, Mary decided to tell him something else. I think Im going to get an abortion, she told Josh. You are? he asked, surprised. Yeah, I dont think I could take care of a baby right now in my life. I dont have enough money or time. I wouldnt be a good mother, Mary explained sadly. Why not give the baby up for adoption? Josh asked. Because I know that if I actually have a baby, I wouldnt be able to give it up, Mary said. So I cant talk you out of it? Josh questioned. No, I have to do this, Mary answered. Would you like me to go with you? Josh asked. He liked Mary already and wanted to help her in any way he could. And then she heads for the clinic and she gets some static walkin' through the doors. They call her a killer, and they call her a sinner, and they call her a whore Mary was so nervous. Joshs presence was helping a little, but she was still scared. They still hadnt made it into the clinic. Mary didnt know if she could get out of the car and walk. Mary? Josh said softly, You dont have to do this, you know, he reminded her. No, I have to," she argued, Im just really nervous. Its ok, Im here for you, Josh said comfortingly. Thanks Josh. That means a lot, Mary replied, I think Im ready to go in now. They both got out of the car, and headed across the street to the clinic. Mary could see the people staring at her and hear them whispering insults. She knew that many people wouldnt approve of what she was doing, but she knew what was best for her. She held tight the Joshs hand as they made their way into the clinic. God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in her shoes The walk from the car into the clinic seemed like miles and miles and miles. Mary couldnt stop thinking about how she was going to kill the little baby inside of her. 'Cause then you really might know what it's like to have to choose Maybe Im not doing the right thing, she thought to herself. Am I really strong enough to go through with this and not hate myself after? My parents will hate me if I do. They dont even know Im pregnant. The thoughts of how horrible abortion was kept racing through her head and for the first time, she saw the bad things about it too. She knew then in her heart that she couldnt do it. She couldnt kill the little human inside of her. She wanted to be able to hold the little creature that she had helped to create. Josh, she said quickly. Yeah? Josh asked, wondering what was wrong. I cant do this. I cant kill my little baby, Mary said. Josh just smiled and led her out the door. Then you really might know what it's like Then you really might know what its like Mary knew that she wasnt going to be a very good mother to her child, but she knew Josh would help her as much as possible. It was great to finally have someone on her side. *THE END* Song used: "What It's Like" by Everlast Note: I may write a sequel to this at some point, I'm not sure yet.
