Chapter 3
When Lance stepped into his house, he closed the door and leaned against it, his eyes closed, sighing happily.  He opened his eyes to see Brandi standing in front of him, smirking.

What? he asked innocently.

Have fun at the party? she questioned, still grinning.

Yes, I did, Lance replied, a happy smile on his face.

You better be careful, Lance, you just met him, Brandi warned.

You sound like my mother, Lance told her, frowning.

Sorry, but I just dont want to see you crushed like last time, Brandi said.  So, did you get his number?

Lance held out his hand with a smile.

Are you going to call him? she questioned.

Tomorrow.  I really like him, Brandi, he admitted.

Did you kiss him? she asked.

Im not telling.

So you did.  Where?

Brandi

Lance, just tell me.

On the cheek.

Awwww, how sweet! she exclaimed, grinning.

Shut up.  So what about you and Josh, you two were dancing pretty close, Lance said, trying to chance the subject.

Hes nice, but honestly?  I think hes gay, Brandi told Lance.

Really? Lance asked.  That sucks for you.

Thanks for the support, Brandi said sarcastically.  He may be bi though.  But whatever.  Hes a cool guy.

So you had fun?

Yeah.  And you obviously did.

Yep.

Good.

Yeah, Lance replied, sighing happily.

Now go to bed and dream about Justin, Brandi told him with a wink.

Lance rolled his eyes, but decided that that wasnt such a bad idea.

When Justin got home, the house was dark, and he was thankful for that.  He really didnt want his mom pressing him for details like she usually did.  He knew she didnt want to know what he was *really* thinking.  He grinned.

Ever since Lance placed that short, sweet kiss on his cheek, Justin couldnt stop thinking about him.  Every time he closed his eyes, he saw Lances face.  Every time he inhaled, he could smell Lances cologne.  And every time he touched his cheek, he thought of that kiss.

He wanted another kiss.  Well, he wanted more than just one more.  He tried to get Lance off his mind, but it was impossible.  He wondered what wouldve happened if he didnt offer Lance a ride home.  He probably wouldnt have even gotten his number.  He was so happy that hed finally confided in Lance about his sexuality.  It was weird, but he already knew he could trust Lance with his life.

Justin went upstairs to his room, sitting down on his bed.  He really wanted to call Josh.  He really wanted to tell someone what had happened.  If his mom had been up, he knew he wouldve told her.  He figured Josh probably wasnt even home from the party yet, so he forgot that idea.

He stripped off his clothes, minus his boxers, and climbed into bed, sighing again.  Hed never felt like this before.  Hed never been so infatuated with someone, especially after knowing him or her for only a few hours.

He rolled over, trying as hard as he could not to think about Lance.  He thought about Brandi, and how cool she was, but Lance was her stepbrother, so that didnt help.  He thought about Josh, and how nosey he was being.  But that brought him back to Lance too.  He wondered if he was going to think about Lance like this all the time.

He sighed, now annoyed, getting out of bed to turn his radio on.  Music always helped him fall asleep.  He looked out the window, and, for the first time in his life, wished on a star.  He knew it was stupid, but if he was going to be thinking about Lance so much, he wanted to at least be his boyfriend.

I love you so much already, Lance, he whispered into the dark before falling asleep.

****

The next morning, Justin woke with a smile on his face.  It had taken him forever to fall asleep the night before, but the time hed spent with Lance was worth it.  He didnt have anything to do that day, so he figured hed just hand around home and wait for Lance to call.

Im so pathetic, he thought to himself, but he was smiling.  He couldnt help it.

He got up, pulling on some sweats and a tee shirt, and going down stairs.  He whistled as he entered the kitchen, and received a weird look from his mother and stepfather.

What? he asked.

Youre up early, and youre whistling, Lynn observed.  Are you sick?

Justin rolled his eyes.  Cant I be happy?

In the morning?  Not without a good reason, Paul, his stepfather replied.

I just had a good time at the party last night, met some cool people, was Justins explanation.

Well Im glad you had fun.  You want breakfast? Lynn asked.

I gotta call Josh, so Ill just grab an apple, Justin responded, taking an apple from the fridge and going back up to his room.

That must have been one *great* party.  He never speaks to us before hes had his cereal, Lynn said, confused.

Paul just shrugged.  He knew theyd find out sooner or later why Justin was so happy.

Justin grabbed the phone once he was in his room and dialed Joshs number.  He knew Josh would be awake.  It didnt matter how late he went to bed, he was always up before nine.

Hello?

Hey Josh.

Justin?

Yeah.

Why are you awake? Josh asked, confused.

What is with everyone this morning?  Cant I get up early if I want to? Justin asked.

You?  No.  Not without good reason, Josh told him.

Well, I *have* a good reason, thats why I called, Justin replied, pouting.

Oh, dont pout you big baby, I was just teasing you, Josh responded, not needing to see Justin to know he was pouting.

Hey, Im not a baby.  I wanted to tell you what happened last night, Justin said.

Ok.

Silence.

So what happened? Josh asked.

You know how I took Lance and Brandi home? Justin asked.

Yeah.

Well, he stayed in the car when we got to their house.  I gave him my number, Justin told Josh.

And?

And he kissed me on the cheek, Justin admitted excitedly.

On the cheek? Josh asked, obviously not very impressed.

Yes, whats wrong with that?  I thought it was sweet, Justin replied, the pout returning.

Nothings wrong with it.  Youre up early and all happy because of a kiss on the cheek? Josh questioned.

I just I cant stop thinking about him, Josh.  I really like him, Justin admitted.

Youve known him for less than a day, Justin, Josh pointed out.

I know.  But I dont care, Justin said, sighing happily.

Josh heard the sigh and rolled his eyes.  You are *so* gone.

I know.  Is it bad that Im happy about it? Justin asked.

Nah, just dont get yourself hurt.  I gotta go now, but call me later, ok? Josh replied.

Sure, Justin said.

And I want details, Josh told him, grinning.

Of course you do, Justin responded, laughing.  Bye.

Bye.

Just as Justin hung up the phone, it rang again.

Lance! he thought.  He couldnt help the smile that spread across his face as he answered the phone.
