Memories - Epilogue
EPILOGUE

*Five Years Later*

Josh couldnt believe it.  Well, he could, but he was so excited.  Leah and Justin were going to get married in only a few hours.  Leah and Justin had finished their senior year in high school and then gone off to the same college in Maine.  Josh had been sad that theyd chosen somewhere so far away, but it gave him and Lance an excuse to go to Maine more often.

As he and Lance got ready for the wedding, he became more and more nervous.  What if something goes wrong, Lance? he asked.

Josh, dont worry, ok, everythings going to be fine, Lance assured him.

Why am I so nervous? Josh asked, taking a break from getting ready and sitting down on their bed.

Josh, every dad is nervous on the day that his daughter gets married, Lance told him, but you know theres nothing to worry about.  Everything is ready, and you know Justin is good for her.

Yeah, I know.  Sorry, I dont know why I got so worked up, Josh replied, relaxing as Lance massaged his shoulders.

Its ok, Lance assured him.  Come here.  Lance pulled Josh up from his spot on the bed and into a hug.

I love you, Lance, Josh whispered into Lances neck.

I love you too, baby, Lance replied, pulling away to give Josh a slow kiss on the lips.  Now, we better finish getting ready or well be late.

Ok, Josh responded, a smile on his face.  It still surprised him how Lance could always make him feel better, always make him smile, even when he was really stressed out, as he had been a few minutes earlier.  But he trusted Lance, and he knew everything would go ok.

They arrived at the church with time to spare and went where they were directed to go.  The church was filling up quickly, and Josh realized that he hadnt known he knew so many people.  He waited outside the main doors of the church for Leah.

Finally, he saw he coming down the hall in her beautiful dress.  It was white, lacey, and made her look like a princess.  As she came up beside him, he pulled her close, tears welling up in his eyes.  When she pulled back and saw the tears, she reached up and wiped them away with her white satin gloves.  Dont cry dad, she whispered.

You look beautiful, Leah, he replied, smiling brightly at her.  And then it was time.  The wedding march started playing, at they walked down the aisle together, both their eyes on Justin, who was looking very handsome up at the alter.

Once Josh handed Leah off to Justin, he stood back, admiring the beauty of the couple.  He almost cried as they exchanged vows, and did when they shared their kiss.  I have a son-in-law, he thought happily.  He felt Lance tug at his hand and realized that it was time to go to the reception.

They got to the reception hall and Josh couldnt help but gasp at how beautiful it was.  Hed paid a lot of money for this, but it was all worth it.  Once he saw the look on Leahs face as she entered the room, it didnt matter to him about the money.  She looked so happy, and he was just happy that she was happy.

Josh couldnt help but smile as he watched Justin and Leah share their dance.  He held tightly to Lances left hand, twisting the engagement band hed placed there the night before.  He looked over at Lance, who smiled at him, and mouthed I love you.  At that moment in time, Josh was truly happy.  He knew hed be happy as long as Lance, his daughter, and his son-in-law were by his side.
