Memories - Chapter 25
Later that night, Josh and Lance were cuddling on the couch watching some movie on TV.  Neither was paying much attention to it with the other so near.  "Josh?" Lance asked.

"Yeah?" Josh replied, turning to look at Lance.

"Am I staying tonight?  Or going home?" Lance questioned.

"Well, I'd like for you to stay tonight," Josh responded, "but it's up to you."

"Where would I sleep?" Lance questioned again.

"You could either sleep in the guest room or my bedroom," Josh suggested.

"Which one would you like?" Lance asked, yawning.

"Either is fine.  Whatever you're more comfortable with.  But me personally?  I'd like you to sleep with me," Josh admitted, his voice a mere whisper.

"Really?" Lance asked hopefully.

"Yes," Josh confirmed.

"Ok then, I'd like to sleep in your bed too," Lance told him, smiling.

"Why don't we go to bed then," Josh suggested.

"Can I borrow a tee shirt or something?" Lance asked, looking down at his nice pants and sweater.

"Of course," Josh replied, standing and leading Josh to his bedroom.

They entered his room, and he went to his dresser and pulled out two tee shirts and two pairs of pajama pants.  "I usually sleep in these, would you like some?" Josh asked.

"Sure, but will they fit?" Lance asked, knowing he was a few sizes bigger than Josh.

"I have some bigger ones that I just wear baggy.  They should fit you," Josh replied, digging through his dresser.  "Ah ha!  Here they are!"

Lance walked closer to Josh and took the pair of pajama pants that Josh was holding out for him.  "Are you sure you don't mind me wearing your clothes?" Lance asked.

"Of course not," was Josh's reply as he made his way into the bathroom.  Lance wasn't sure if he was supposed to follow, but he did anyway.  Josh was kneeling by the cabinet under the sink, searching for something.  "Found it!" he exclaimed as he stood.  He held out a new toothbrush to Lance and smiled.

"Thanks," Lance replied.

"No problem.  I'll let you brush your teeth and change, ok?" Josh asked, making his way out of the bathroom.

"Ok," Lance agreed, unable to stop the smile from spreading across his face.  'I'm going to sleep with Josh,' he thought happily.  'God, he's going to think I'm weird if I stay this giddy.'  Lance laughed as himself as he began to change into Josh's pajamas.

Once Justin had changed into his new clothes, he left the bathroom with his dirty clothes and dumped them in a pile on the floor of his room.  Then he returned to the living room to find Leah sitting on the couch, waiting patiently for him.

"There you are," she said with a smile.  "Come're."

Justin obeyed, sitting down next to Leah.  He took her hand nervously before saying, "Leah, I have a surprise for you."

"You do?" Leah asked, wondering what it could be.

"Yeah, come to my room," Justin replied, standing up and pulling her up with him.  He led her out of the living room and into his bedroom.

"What are we doing, baby?" Leah asked curiously.

"You'll see," was all Justin said.  He motioned for her to sit on his bed and then crossed the room to his closet.  Leah watched as he pulled a large case out of the closet - a guitar case.

"You're going to-" she started to asked.

"Shhhh," Justin shushed her, opening the case and pulling out his favorite possession - his guitar.

"Ok," Leah agreed.

Then Justin moved to sit next to her on the bed, guitar in hand.  Leah could see his hands shaking and knew he was really nervous.

"Please don't be nervous, Justin," Leah said, touching his shoulder lightly.

"I can't help it," he whispered, "I wrote this song.  I hope you like it."

"I'm sure I will, baby," Leah assured him.  They sat quietly for a few more minutes before Justin started to play and sing.

So I'm a little left of center
I'm a little out of tune
Some say I'm paranormal
So I just bend their spoon
Who wants to be ordinary
In a crazy, mixed-up world
I don't care what they're sayin'
As long as you're my girl

Leah watched Justin closely as he sang.  She noticed that as he got more into the song, he got less and less nervous.  She smiled and continued to listen to his voice and the words of the beautiful song he'd written.

Hey, you are on my side
And they, they just roll their eyes

Leah wished that Justin had sang for her before.  She wished she'd known what a wonderful voice he had.  And she hoped that he would be able to do something with his voice in the future.

You get me
When nobody understands
You come and take the chance, baby
You get me
You look inside my wild mind
Never knowing what you'll find
And still you want me all the time
Yeah, you do
Yeah, you get me

Leah smiled as she realized the meaning of the song.  She was touched that Justin would write a song for her, about them.  She didn't think all of it applied to them specifically, but some did.  She knew that he'd had a hard time with girls before, that most girls didn't give him a chance.  But she had.

So what if I see the sunshine
In the pouring rain
Some people think I'm crazy
But you say it's okay
You've seen my secret garden
Where all of my flowers grow
In my imagination
Anything goes

Justin looked over and was able to catch Leah's eye as he sang and played his guitar, and he smiled at her.  He could see that she liked the song from the look on her face.  He relaxed even more when he realized that.  He fell deeper into his passion for music.

I, I am all you want
They, they just read me wrong

Leah watched, amazed as she watched Justin get even more into the music, bobbing his head a little and playing louder.  When he looked at her again, the look on his face she couldn't describe it.  He looked so damn happy.  She knew that this was a special time, and she was grateful that Justin shared something he loved with her.

You get me
When nobody understands
You come and hold my hand, baby
You get me
You look inside my wild mind
Never knowing what you'll find
Still you want me all the time
Yeah, you do
'Cause you get me

There was a break in the song where he just played the guitar, and he looked down at his fingers concentrating.  When he looked back up, he smiled when she whispered, "I love it."  He shushed her again, wanting her to wait until the song ended to talk.

Hey, you are on my side
They, they just roll their eyes
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Leah watched Justin's eyes and could see some hurt run through them as he sang.  She realized that he'd been hurt pretty badly in the past, and wondered how anyone could hurt him.  He was such a wonderful person.  He may have been a little shy when they met, but she thought she'd done a good job trying to bring him out of his shell.  He still got a little nervous when they were alone, but she tried to understand.  She hoped that they could talk about what had happened to him to cause the hurt, but she wasn't sure he'd want to.

'Cause you get me
When nobody understands
You come and take the chance, baby
You get me
When none of the pieces fit
You make sense of it
You get me
You look inside my wild mind
Never knowing what you'll find
And still I want you all the time
Yeah, I do
'Cause you get me
Yeah, oh, yeah, oh

When the song ended, Justin put the guitar on the ground and looked over at Leah.  She smiled before pulling him close in a tight hug.  "That was beautiful, Justin, you have a wonderful voice.  And the song - it was just beautiful.  I love it!" Leah exclaimed, still keeping him close to her.

"I'm glad 'cause it was for you," Justin replied happily.

"Thank you for sharing that with me, Justin, thank you," Leah whispered, pulling back a little to look at Justin.

"You're welcome, Leah," Justin whispered as their lips brushed together.
