Lance's Angel
Lance?

Hmmm?

Can I talk to you?

Sure, Lance replied, looking up from his papers.  He smiled when his eyes landed on his best friend.  Whats up, Angel?

Annie smiled at the use of his nickname for her.  I have something I need to tell you, something Ive been thinking about for a long time.

Ok, Lance responded, a little confused.  Im ready.

Well, I was wondering, um, you know how we used to talk about how we were gonna grow up together and live next-door to each other and our kids would be friends and- she rambled.

Yeah, Angel, I do, Lance told her, reaching for her hand.  Sweetie?  Why are you nervous?  Youre never nervous are me.

I I just, I was wondering if maybe we could, well.  Lance, I love you.  Im in love with you.  I dont want to be your next-door neighbor, I want to live with you, Annie admitted, unable to look up at Lances face, which she was sure was filled with disgust or anger.

Angel, Lance whispered, tilting her head up so that she was looking into his eyes.  She was shocked to see tears pooling in the beautiful green depths.

Lance? she asked, confused.

Angel, Ive been wanting you to say that for so long, Lance told her, pulling her into his arms.

Really? she questioned, sighing as they held each other.

Yes, really, he confirmed, pulling back a little to look into her eyes.  Youre so beautiful, Angel.

Annie smiled.  She was beginning to love when he called her that.  I love you so much, Lance.

I love you too, my Angel.

They sat, still in each others arms in a comfortable silence for a while.

So what happens now? Annie asked, breaking the silence.

Well, we should tell the guys that were together, Lance suggested.

Yeah, Annie replied.

Joeys gonna be so disappointed, he has a crush on you, Lance teased her, grinning.

Hell get over it, she said, grinning back.

He always does, Lance added.

Yeah.  Lance?

Yes?

Are we going to tell, you know, everyone else? Annie questioned.

The media you mean?

Yeah.

Well, thats really up to you, Lance told her.

Should we? she asked, unsure.

Well, if we do, youll probably get a lot of attention, but if we dont, well have to be discreat about this, Lance said.

I dont want to have to hide my love, Lance, I dont know if I can, Annie admitted.

Well, we have our answer then, dont we, Angel? Lance asked, kissing Annies forehead.

I guess so, Annie replied.

You ok, sweetie?

Yeah.  Im just so happy.

Me too, Angel, me too.

Can I ask you one more thing?

You just did, Lance teased, tickling her sides.

She giggled.  You know what I mean, baby.

I like when you call me baby, Lance commented, wiggling his eyebrows.

Annie pouted.

Ok, Im done.  Ask away.

When are you going to kiss me? she questioned.

I did.

I meant a *real* kiss, Annie replied, grinning.

Ok, Angel.  How about now? Lance asked, and before Annie could reply, his lips covered hers.

As he kissed her breathless, she found herself thinking that he was the angel, not her.
