Daddy Dearest
"Josh, come on, we've been through this already," Lance sighed as he climbed the stairs to their bedroom. He stretched out on the bed and Josh lay down next to him.

"Baby, I know this is getting old but you want it too," he mumbled lightly nuzzling his head into the crook of Lance's neck.

"I do want kids, yes, we've covered that," he sighed deeply running his hands up through the dark blonde hair, "I just don't want to adopt."

"I know you want a kid of your own, but I mean, it's not like one of us can get pregnant," Josh said leaning up on his elbow to look down at Lance.

"Obviously Josh, don't be stupid," he whispered rolling over and leaning against the lanky body next to him.

"I'm not being stupid, I'm being practical," he said wrapping his arm over Lance's shoulders.

"Well, there are other ways other than adopting that are a little more personal," he said so lightly that he wasn't sure Josh heard him.

A minute later the brunette spoke, "Like what?"

"Like artificial insemination," Lance said sitting up slightly.

"Whoa, that's like something completely different," Josh said shaking his head as he sat up.

"Not really, basically we give a sperm and get an egg and have it implanted into the womb. Then the baby is a part of us," he explained running his hand lightly over Josh's cheek.

"Have you looked into this?" he asked curiously leaning forward on his hands.

"Well, I did some research," Lance mumbled looking down.

"I mean, yeah it's a good idea, but there's one problem," he said his voice with a twinge of doubt.

"What's that?" Lance asked looking up with hope in his green eyes.

"Who would do it?" Josh asked biting his lip. A smile crept across Lance's lips slightly, "You've already thought of this, god Lance, don't let me be a part of this or anything. Please tell me you didn't already go ask the person."

"Come on, give me some credit, I didn't talk to her yet," he smirked, "But I did think about it."

"Well, the suspense is killing m. Tell me," he said getting a bit excited about the whole thing.

"Emmanuelle."

"You guys, I don't know," she stuttered uncomfortably. Josh and Lance both sat across the table from her at the restaurant with their hands gripped tightly together under the table.

"That's okay, just think about it, please," Lance practically begged.

"I will, I'll think about it," she said looking down to her plate. She finished eating and had to leave. She said her good-byes and went to get her coat.

She took one look across the room to the table she had just left. Lance was crying as Josh pressed their foreheads together, trying to comfort him. Josh ran his hand lightly over Lance's back trying to calm him but it didn't work.

Without giving it a second thought she walked back across the room and stood in front of the table for a minute waiting for them to look up.

When they finally did she said, "I'll do it."

"Ok, so we got us a mama," Josh giggled as they walked through the front door of their house.

"Josh," Lance laughed as he followed him upstairs. He grabbed onto the boy's waist playing lightly with the shirt that lay there.

"What?" he grinned looking back at Lance as they entered the bedroom.

"I mean that's not exactly it. Yeah, I mean we got the most important part but like there's our half too," Lance sighed sitting down on the edge of the bed to take off his shoes.

Josh quietly stripped down to his wifebeater and boxers and slipped into bed. Lance took the hint, did the same and crawled under the blanket next to him. Two arms wrapped slowly around his waist pulling their bodies close together.

"What do you mean our half?" he whispered lightly, directly into Lance's ear. He could feel the body shiver against him. Josh smiled lightly.

"Which of us is going to give the sperm, Josh?" he mumbled not wanting to have to discuss this. He knew they both wanted to be a father and Lance certainly didn't want a fight to emerge from something as amazing as this.

"Well, that's a stupid question," Josh half laughed, "It's gonna be you, baby."

"Why me? I mean don't you want," he paused not knowing how to word it but Josh's fingers had found their way to Lance's mouth and covered it lightly preventing any words from escaping.

"I can't think of anything more beautiful than a little you running around this house," he murmured lightly letting his fingers trail over Lance's eyelids. "I want the baby to have these incredible eyes so that every time I look at the baby I think of you."

Lance swallowed hard not wanting to cry as he rolled over to face his lover. "Josh, but what about the baby having your characteristics, I mean I feel the same way," he tried to explain.

"No, Lance, don't make this an issue. It's going to be our child no matter what it looks like. And I just want it to look like you, baby," he mumbled.

"Josh," he started.

"Nope, no issue here, it's gonna be you, now let's get some sleep," he replied as they sunk into the bed and Lance curled up against his chest.

"Ok, so it's all settled," the doctor said sitting down behind her desk. Lance, Josh and Emmanuelle all sat on the opposite side.

"So how long will it be before we know if I'm pregnant?" Emmanuelle asked slightly nervous.

"Roughly a month."

Everyday Josh would wake up in an empty bed and would look across the room to see Lance sitting at the desk. He would have the phone tucked up tightly to his ear as he checked in on Emmanuelle. He called her every morning to see if anything had happened. It made Josh smile every time.

<><><><><><><><><>

"Aw, babe, come back to bed," Josh grumbled clinging to Lance's waist as he tried to stand.

"Let go, the phones ringing," he replied prying the hands off him as he ran to the phone. "Hello," he said picking it up. His smile grew as he heard the voice on the other end. He was practically beaming. Josh got up quickly and sat down on the edge of the desk next to him.

Lance leaned against his shoulder and Josh wrapped his arm around the blonde's waist. Tears were already brimming in both of their eyes. When Lance hung up the phone he turned to him softly.

"We're gonna have a baby," he smiled as he clung to his lover.

<><><><><><><><><>

"And there's the baby's head and oh wow, do you want to know the sex of your baby?" the doctor asked as she went about the ultrasound.

"No," three voices practically shouted in unison.

"Alright then," the doctor smiled.

"We just don't want to ruin the surprise or anything," Lance explained as he clung to Josh with one hand and to Emmanuelle with the other.

"Completely understandable," she replied. Josh squeezed Lance's hand a little tighter to get his attention. Lance grinned back at him.

<><><><><><><><><>

"Names? Isn't a little early to be deciding names?" Josh whined at Lance who sat across the table from him at dinner one night.

"Not really, I mean she's due any day now. We don't want to have to come up with a name last minute," Lance explained.

"Well, um, ok," Josh stumbled trying to think of names.

"I've always liked the name Joshua," Lance grinned reaching his hand across the table to brush Josh's.

"Um, no, that's my name," Josh shook his head.

"Maybe, that's why I like it so much," Lance mumbled as his foot slid up Josh's leg underneath the table. He jumped a little at the contact but settled against it almost immediately. He slid down the chair a little allowing the foot better access. Josh's eyes slumped closed as Lance's foot pushed lightly at the slight bulge in his pants.

"Ah, Lance," he moaned a little his breathing becoming heavier as Lance became a little more persistent.

"Yes?" he questioned as his foot arched pushing tightly against the zipper. Josh looked like he was going to fall to the floor any second he was so slumped over.

"Bed, couch, somewhere," he choked as he squinted his eyes shut. Lance removed his foot and walked around the table to him. He hooked his arms under Josh's and helped him as they walked to the living room.

Lance lay him down on the couch first before lowering himself on top of the man. He quickly removed their pants and got to business.

There was hardly any foreplay, due to the fact that Josh couldn't take much more and that neither needed it anymore knowing exactly what it took to drive the other crazy.

Josh licked softly at Lance's collarbone as Lance sunk into him. It was only a few minutes before they both lay next to each other panting onto damp skin.

"That was good," Josh mumbled rubbing Lance's back softly as he pulled the blanket off the back of the couch and covered them with it.

<><><><><><><><><>

"Where's the damn phone?" Lance asked running around the living room wrapped in the blanket leaving Josh nude on the couch. He curled up in a little ball trying to keep warm.

Lance found the ringing phone under a pile of papers and lay quickly back down by Josh allowing them both access to the blanket.

"Hello?" Lance asked quietly into the phone as Josh curled up against his back. "What? Okay we'll be there right away."

"What's wrong?" he asked against his back.

"She's in labor, she's in labor," he said standing up quickly searching for their clothes that had been messily discarded the night before.

"Ohmygod," he replied as he got dressed and they hurried out the door.

As Lance drove hurriedly to the hospital Josh sat next to him excitedly trying to think of something to say. Then it dawned on him.

"The names!" he exclaimed, "We need to think of names."

"Um, ok, so yeah," Lance spoke in broken syllables, "I've always liked the name Aubree for a girl."

"That's cute, that's really cute," Josh said trying to think fast," Aubree… Lynn?"

"That'd work," Lance replied as he turned quickly into the hospital parking lot.

"Or Aubree Claire, that sounds good?" Josh questioned. Lance swerved into a spot and threw the car into park. He turned to the other, his eyes filled with tears.

"It's beautiful," he cried stroking Josh's face with the back of his hand, "We're going to be parents."

"I know," he said taking his hand lightly, "We better get inside."

They hurried inside and waited. The sun came up and the day began and they still waited. Eventually the door opened and a nurse came over to them with a wide smile on her face.

"Congratulations, Dads," she smiled, "You have a beautiful little girl." The nurse walked away and Lance let out a deep sigh. Josh practically hopped onto his lap and wrapped his arms around Lance's body. Lance buried his head into the crook of his neck and began to cry.

"Baby, shh, ohmygod," Josh smiled deeply as he stroked Lance's back slightly.

"You boys can go on in and see her," the nurse called from behind the desk she sat at. They slowly got up and Josh wrapped his arm around Lance's waist. As soon as they entered the room they saw Emmanuelle lying in bed holding a beautiful baby with dark brown hair.

They stood in the doorway a minute not wanting to interrupt the perfect scene unfolding in front of them. "Come here, you guys, come see your daughter," Emmanuelle coaxed. They moved forward and Lance took the baby in his arms holding it close to his body. Josh and he sat down on the small couch next to the bed.

"Has she opened her eyes yet? Do you know what color they are?" Josh asked eagerly as his fingers brushed the splattering of hair on her head.

"Oh, Aubree," Lance cried as Josh reached for their baby and cradled her small body. Her eyes slowly opened and she looked at the two men in front of her.

"Lance," he choked, "she has your eyes."

"She's got your hair," Lance said brushing his hand against it lightly, "It's already a mess too."

"Hey Aubree," Josh murmured allowing her to wrap her small hand around one of his fingers, "We're your daddies."
