| Chapter 2 |
| JC must have read the letter over a thousand times, his coffee cold beside him and long forgotten. He just couldn't make any sense of it. Justin? In love with HIM? It was crazy. He shivered slightly and laid the paper on the table carefully, smoothing out every wrinkle as he thought about it. 'Actually, it's not *that* crazy,' he mused, folding the paper in half and running his hand over it slowly. 'Justin's a very attractive man. Strong profile, handsome and yet with some boyish features, and a great smile.' JC licked his lips slightly as he folded the paper in half again, making sure the crease was perfect. 'And as for me, I'm sure as hell not ugly. Not as classically handsome as Justin, but not at all bad looking.' He folded the paper again, and then looked at it. Perfect and neatly done. 'Kinda like Justin.' The sound of a door opening caught JC off guard, and he jumped slightly in panic. What if that's Justin, coming to find out how JC feels? He didn't think he was ready for that just yet. Or Chris? Or Joey? They would freak out, no doubt. Or maybe it was Lance? JC paused. Lance would probably be cool with it. He's just like that, a very understanding person. Voices coming nearer brought JC back to reality, and he quickly shoved the letter inside the TEENBEAT magazine, grabbing his coffee in a quick effort to look like nothing had happened. He winced at the cold liquid as Joey and Chris came into the kitchen area, but said nothing. "Hey Jace, what's up?" Chris asked nonchalantly as he flopped down next to his band mate. He looked over at Joey, who was pouring himself a cup of coffee. "Hey Joe, pour me a cup, would ya?" "Oh, uh, hey Chris," JC said, trying desperately to not sound nervous and failing miserably. "Not much going on back here. Just chilling." "Yeah, well, now that Mr. Excitement is here," Chris said, discreetly pointing to himself, "we can get down to business. So Jace, you getting any lately?" JC choked on his coffee, restraining himself from looking at the back of bus where he knew Justin was at. "Uh, no?" he said, phrasing it like he didn't know the answer. Chris nodded sympathetically, slapping JC on the back and grabbing his coffee from Joey. "Yeah, you poor schmo," he sighed. "As for me, I'm just *so* sexually exhausted from yesterday that I don't know if I'll be able to work today." "Oh that's all right, Chris," Joey said as he sipped his coffee. "Just use your other hand." JC choked on his coffee again, this time laughing too hard to drink anymore. Chris flipped Joey the bird and glared at him over the rim of his cup. Joey shrugged and munched on an apple. JC chuckled once more as he got up from the table. "I'm gonna go take a shower," he said. "Aww, come on Jace!" whined Joey. "I'm bored and, after all, Chris is *way* too tired to do anything." JC laughed again as Chris hit Joey in the head with the TEENBEAT magazine. He headed off to the shower, listening to Chris and Joey bicker playfully. Joey picked up the magazine and looked at the cover. 'Ooh, Justin and Brit getting married again?' He waved the magazine in the air and yelled at JC's retreating back. "Hey Jace! Ya mind if I read your magazine?" JC shrugged, only hearing something about Joey reading. "Whatever Joe, go ahead," he called through the open bathroom door. "There's some pretty interesting stuff in there," he added sarcastically, thinking about the article saying Justin and Britney were getting married; again. JC laughed as he stripped and stepped into the shower. 'If the teenies only knew who Justin *really* wanted,' he thought with a chuckle. ~*~ Joey listened with half an ear as Chris bitched about Joey's comment, flipping casually through the teen magazine. 'What JC sees in these things is beyond me,' he thought as he bit into the apple. 'What's so interesting about ... hello, what's this?' Joey picked up the piece of paper, rolling his eyes at how neatly folded it was. He opened it up, choking on a bite of apple as he read it. "Well, fuck me sideways," he mumbled to himself. "JC's in love with me?" |
