The son of a shoemaker, Harloe first met Tea while his family was traveling with a band of nomads. The group joined the Tribe of Emen and the two children became fast friends. As they grew, Tea continued to ignore his stronger traits, such as his sly demeanor and his love of money.
Harloe fell in love with Tea and wanted to marry her, but the young fifteen year old felt that she wasn't ready and refused him. Angry with the rejection, Harloe left the tribe.
