Herbal Smoking Blends have become very popular. However one must gain some knowledge when purchasing these products. Herbal smoking blends are not marijuana or tobacco. They are different herbs and will taste and burn differently that other smoke able substances. Some herbal blends are smooth but are ground very fine and are dry - therefore they burn very well and may seem harsh, when it is a case of too much too fast. It is wise when using a new blend to start off smoking it slowly taking in small amounts, letting yourself get accustomed to it. Many of these products contain salvia divinorum. While salvia is a great herb and has been use for centuries, it is not an alternative to tobacco or marijuana. When salvia is smoked it must be burned hot and inhaled deeply to produce effects. That is not very easy when you have blended it with other herbs. Salvia can be used in blends to produce a slight immediate effect and taste but is not something you would look for as a main ingredient. For example if a blend contains over 30% salvia you are not going to get the effects you are looking for because it is not going to burn properly. There are many products that are designed to supposedly look and smell like a particular substance. Those usually contain additives and extracts. Good herbal smoke should be blended herbs only, not additives and extracts. Watch out for blends that contain Kava or other bark or root herbs. Bark and roots are not very smooth to smoke. It is best to try a wide variety of smoking blends - that way you will have a better chance of finding something you like. For example: do you like every brand of soft drink? Most likely not. Most likely you have a couple of favorites. Most important of all use any smoking blend in moderation. If you are pregnant or nursing don't smoke. If you have health conditions - Consult a doctor.
