Schoolin'
While in High School ( i'm sure everone has gotten this before ) I was continually told that I would amount to nothing but a burger flipper if that with no education, and no place in the real world. Well well well....although burger flipping is needed to feed the fat executive assholes who have no time to indulge, I am well on my way to getting my degree in Graphic Design. Bite me Mr. Tutty ( you blow chunks )
Education in general has failed my every expectation so far. This is just yet again another thing the Government has failed to recognize as one of the most important issues today. I've seen the high school life and it is nothing to make a huge deal out of. Now a days all that the education system churns out is a bunch of yuppies in the making, hell bent on making it to the top, without the fears of failure ( or rejection... )
It seems that the teachers know how to read out of a textbook just fine, and they do a semi good job showing others how to do just the same ( I knew 4 guys who can't even spell civil or apprehension *HELLO* )
All that I observed during the time I spent was a bunch of clique-y little children who live off of thier parents, and have no real hopes for the future.  Shame really. I hold no real hope for these children of commercialism. I wouldn't be in the least bit suprised if I saw them 15 years from now either slumming it or turning tricks for crack money.
Now i've heard the saying that the friendships you form in high school can last a lifetime. But I realized a few years after I began, who the hell would want to be seen with these people?! The gathering every morning of the perfect blondes chattering on and on about the guys they've screwed and what new shampoo they started using....the herd of the rich white boys talking about getting high and blasting the worst (c)rap i've ever heard...and the group we all know to well, the Magic players who sit in the cafeteria and play Magic before, inbetween, after, and if they are feeling NAUGHTY...during classes, snorting and wheezing away the hours. Doubtless they get together after school and play then also.
I never had a "crowd" I hung out with, I had friends in every clique, some less wanted than others. Like I saw this girl Sarah at MHCC a few days back, whom I sat next to in English and Social Studies ( sweet girl ) She was also one of the popular pretty girls.
I sat around during lunch with the Stoners and the Skaters (yum) and laughed the hour away, after school I communed with the punks and freaks, and before well...I just wandered around saying my Good Morning's to everyone. Some people said I never belonged, truth is, I know I don't belong, but i'm accepted ( like Visa baby ) I told her that, she looked a bit stunned. I think she was hoping I was going to cry or yell at her.
Doubtless you wonder why i'm not talking about the actual education process, well in my opinion THERE IS NONE!!!!! There is nothing left of what we thought was a way to get smart and acheive in life. Now it is just one giant fashion show/music fest/community slam fest/ slack-off/extra place to catch some sleep.
I saw nothing even close to resembling anyone getting a VALID education there. People would sit and blah blah blah away the hour and ten minutes they had to gain a bit of information, and the teacher seemed to ignore it. Either that or people would half listen and forget about it the second the bell rang. I don't think there were even 6 people in my Biology class who actually did thier homework ( I think 5 of them copied off of the one who actually put the effort into it )
I myself wasn't there much, as much as I love Biology, I didn't enjoy the people that I had to deal with while there.
The people who actually absorb something worthwhile in school, CHEERS! You are part of a handful of people who know what they are doing, not the lazy self absorbed children who like to play Big KId.
I never made it through School, I got kicked out sometime during my junior year, where I went on to get my G.E.D. ( took me 4 months if that ) and now i'm in college doing quite well. I rarely apply anything I learned in H.S., but I use the things I find to be true and stick by them religiously.  I don't like the form that schools use today to teach, it's incompetant and pointless, I learned more by skipping class and hanging out with the Street Kids down at the square. They are damn smart people.
I don't see myself as a brain, I just like to think I have one and I know how to use it....sometimes.
