From Harriet Zimmer:

PLEASE SAVE HIS LIFE

My son, Stuart Zimmer, is dying from kidney failure. He has a wife and three children under the age of 5. He is suffering on dialysis and his doctors are unable to control his blood pressure which is as high as 220/120. At that level, he could suffer a stroke or worse at any time. He desperately needs a kidney transplant to stay alive. Our family, friends and several total strangers have been tested, but none were compatible. Since he had a previous surgery and blood transfusions, he is highly sensitized and difficult to match.

He is only 35 and otherwise healthy.

Now, I am appealing to everyone throughout the U.S. in hopes of getting a match for my son. I lost his father 10 years ago and don't want to lose my baby too. I pray someone will read this and understand my desperate quest.

Every day, 12 people die waiting for a donor. I don't want my youngest son to become a statistic.

If you or anyone you know would consider being tested as a potential donor, I can tell you the procedure is simple and free of cost. Call New York Presbyterian Hospital at 212-305-6469 and ask for Joan Kelly. You can also reach her at [email protected]. If you do not hear back from the hospital, please call me collect at 973-564-6099. Often they are very busy, and don't get back to people as quickly as we would like. You can also email me at [email protected]. Compatible donors should be between 18 and 65 years old, in good health and have Type B or O blood. If you have high blood pressure, a blood disease or diabetes, you cannot be a donor. The donor's surgery is now very simple. It is called a laparoscopic nephrectomy. The donor is hospitalized for 2-3 days, with only a small bikini ine incision. Most donors are back to work within a week with no dietary or lifestyle restrictions. This will not cost the donor anything! Please share this letter with friends, family and colleagues. If you have a business, please consider posting this at your workplace. With the right transplant, my son can resume his full, productive life. In the meantime, please pray for Stuart and all those awaiting vital organs to live.

I thank you with all my heart for reading this message and helping my son .
