LOVE ON WHEELS

Cory came into my life when he was about two, and I've been in love with him from the first day I met him. Cory has big brown eyes, a freckled nose, a winning smile, plus a heart filled with love for everyone he meets.

Cory also has a determination to try any task that is asked of him, no matter what it may be. Cory's hobbies include fishing with anyone who will fish with him, swimming, playing in the yard with his crazy daisy, he likes to draw and color, he also likes books and newspapers, but his favorite past-time is eating cheese sandwiches with his Papa Roger.

Cory has two brothers and one sister, who give him a lot of enjoyment and aggravation, just like any family. All of them are very important to his happiness and well being.

As you can tell by reading these lines, my Cory is also very important to me, my love for Cory and his for me, knows no bounds, for there is no step-grandson nor is there any step-grandmother, because as the song goes " We are family", and no matter the way the world may turn, Cory and his Granny are a team. Nothing can make my heart fill with love any faster then to have Cory come into a room, a grin on his little freckled face, going from ear to ear, and him squealing at the top of his little lungs, "Granny, come here!" There will more than likely be tears in my eyes and so much joy in my heart that this wonderful child is close enough for me to touch, to hug and to kiss all of his freckles.

I do not pay any attention to the fact that Cory is riding in a wheelchair, which he has done his entire lifetime, or that the little fellow has only one good arm to wrap around my neck and that his slurred speech is only audible to those who know and love him best.

For eight years, these things have not mattered to me nor do they matter to Cory. All that matters is the fact we walk this world together, that we love and laugh together, because without this ten year old in my life, what a vacant hole there would be in my heart. I thank God that He chose me to be Cory's Granny.
