PENNY POOCH AND THE SUN
Hi kids, Penny Pooch here and I have a story to tell you today. Boy, you won't believe what happened to me the other the other day!
I was in my big backyard the other day and the sun was so hot that I went into my house and laid down, I was one sick puppy. I didn't play and I didn't eat and I sure did not drink my water because it was warm!
My tummy felt really funny, and I just did not fell like moving. I wanted to see my little people girl, Mandy.
I moaned and groaned, and I just made the smallest of sound. Oh, I just wanted to be cool and happy!
When I just couldn't stand it any more, my Mandy came to play with me. She looked at me and started to cry! I opened my eyes as she ran into the house calling for her mommy.
In just a flash, Mandy and her mommy were back at my doghouse and Mandy's mommy was picking me up and taking me to the family car. I was surprised that they were both crying and petting me. I closed my eyes and felt really safe and loved!
When we got into the car, Mandy sat in the back seat with me and held my head in her lap, her mommy turned the air conditioner on, and made the car really cool. Boy, that felt so good!!
But before I could get really comfortable, we had stopped, and Mandy and her mommy had gotten out of the car. I was picked up again and carried into a building.
When I opened my eyes, I was so surprised to find myself in the veterinarian's office! WOW, what did I do now??
The groans that came from my mouth were pure fright! I don't like to come to the veterinarian, she's nice and is good to me, but she does funny things to me!
It crossed my mind to run away, but when I looked at Mandy she was still crying and so was her mommy. I don't like for my little girl to cry; so I just nuzzled Mandy�s hand and closed my eyes again.
Doctor Jane told Mandy and her mommy that I was close to having a heat stoke, and I needed to be cooled down, because my temperature was really high. How did that happen?
I know that I�ve had all of my shots and I haven�t eaten any thing strange. How could I be so sick??
Doctor Jane told Mandy and her mommy that being in the hot sun all day and not drinking my water had caused me to get sick. You have to drink a lot of water when you stay in the sun.
So I stayed at the veterinarian office over night. I didn�t like that because Mandy couldn�t stay with me. I was so lonely that I cried all night long!!
When the sun came up, I saw it, and I was waiting for my little girl! I don�t like not seeing my Mandy and I sure don�t like to be out of my big back yard!
It was a long wait, but I finally heard my little girl calling my name! OH JOY!! I could go home, and I was hungry, really hungry!!!
Mandy came running up to the kennel that I was in, and told me that I could come home and that I could stay in the house until the heat wave was over. What is a heat wave??
I still don�t know what a heat wave is, but I have been staying in the house and it is cool, and I drink my water and eat my food, and no more veterinarian�s office.
Mandy and I play all day long and I sleep in this real nice doggy bed that Mandy�s mommy bought for me. What more could a dog ask for?
