DOUBLE TAKE
Dogs are somewhat like children, they do things that are so naturally funny, that all you can do is to stop and laugh and enjoy the heck out of them. Prozac is such a comic! He will make you laugh every-time you pay any attention to him. This is a short little story about Zac when he was about 1 year old, and not too swift on the sound of new puppies and the idea of a video camera.
Lady had just given birth to her first litter, and we had her in our bedroom, so that we could make sure that Zac didn't try to play with the little ones. He is forever looking for someone to play with, and I just knew that he would think the new puppies were ready for him and his games.
My husband decided to film the new puppies and Lady for our records, and while he had the camera out, being the male that he is, he wanted to get Zac's reaction to the new family members. So he whistled for Zac to come to him, and we could hear the sound of excitement as he came bouncing down the hallway, ready to play with his Daddy!
He ran non stop until he got to the doorway, where he came to a sudden stop, he looked at his Daddy who had this strange thing up to his eye, and he turned post haste and started out of the room as fast as he had arrived, when he had cleared the doorway, the puppies started to cry, which in turn startled Zac, and he came back to the doorway and gave us such a bewildering look! He almost looked like he couldn't believe his eyes or his ears! What a double take that was, one that we have on video- tape and one that we will have in our minds forever.
