Crocheted child's purse or cradle

If you are using a plastic bottle cut around about three inches from bottom.  If you use the round tub this is not necessary.  Punch holes around top a little less than 1/2 inch down and about 1/2 inch apart.
Row 1:  With E hook, make 3 sc in ea hole around.  Sl st into first sc, ch 3, turn.  Working in back loop use larger hook and make 1 dc in ea st around.
Row 2: sl st in top of ch 3, make 1 dc in same sp going through both loops from now on.  1 dc in ea st around to other end.  2 dc in one st, then 1 dc in ea st back to beg, sl st into ch 3, and ch 3.
Row 3: Repeat Row 2.
Row 4: 1 dc in same st as ch 3, *ch 1, 1 dc in next 2 sts*.  Repeat btween * around, end ch 1, sl st in top of ch 3, sl st to ch 1.  If desired, fasten off and change colors.
Row 5: Attach yarn and ch 3 in any  ch 1 sp.  2 dc in same sp. *Skip 2 dc, 3 dc in next ch 1 sp*.  Repeat between * around row.  Sl st into top of ch 3, then sl st over to between shells.
Row 6: Ch 3, repeat Row 5
Row 7: Repeat Row 5, but ch 2 between shells.
Row 8: Attach main color if using 2 colors.  * Make 4 or 5 sc in ch 2 sp, 1 sc in center of shell*.  Repeat between * around row.  Fasten off.  Make 2 chains ea 24 inches long.  Weave one chain around the purse and come out the same end it started. Sew the ends together and make a small pom pom and sew to end of chain.  Repeat with 2nd chain this time starting at opposite side of purse.  When you pull both sides the purse top will come together.  If you are making jus the purse, the above instructions are complete.
Cradle:
turn crocheted part down, amke the cradle end at center  and measure two inches on either side (4 inches total centered at one end)  Work back loop one row only.  Attach contrasting color and sc across the 4 inches, ch 1, turn, insert hook into next two sts and draw up a loop yo and go through all sts on hook (dec made).  Sc to other end ch 1 and dec as before, continue  decreasing at ea end until work measures two inches.  Fasten off.  Attach main color to beginning sc. 1 sc around whole top of cradle until you reach the other end of contrasting color (between the original 4 inches).
Now working in the back loop on side of cradle make *1 sc in 2 sts, ch 3, sl st in first ch to form picot*.  Repeat  between * around whole cradle until you reach first sc of hood.  Make 1 sc in 2 sts, ch 3, sl st in first st for picot and repeat across top of hood.  Fasten off when you reach the first sc before the picots.
