Our Cherokee-German Harmons
This page is dedicated to both our Cherokee and German ancestors.
We are in search of descendants & ancestors & cousins of
Johan Peter Harmon, a German immigrant
and
Margaret Choulyn, a full blooded Cherokee.
Thoughts on Family History and Sources
This website was begun for the purpose of uniting our present Harmon family in order that we might be able to search together for our past, so please remember that our Harmon-Choulyn website (and all connecting pages) is a "work in progress." This site is not meant to be a primary source, but a meeting place to share what we've found, ask questions and compare notes.
Much of the information posted here was received from generous cousins who have diligently search records, films, and books. Other information has been obtained from other websites and message boards.
As our family tree begins to grow here, there will be more and more documentation listed and when possible, we will note the actual "paper" trail of the information. We welcome new cousins and new information, and are always on the lookout for updates and corrections, so if you see something whose source isn't listed, and you can provide that information, please let us know!
If you want to add your name and email address to our mailstring, please click the grey horse to read about contacting the webmaster!
Thank you!!
. . . and Welcome!!!

The Rhineland, Germany
to
Rockingham,Virginia
by way of Rotterdam, The Netherlands, where son
Johan (Hance or Hans) Peter Herrmann*

(*webmaster's note: I'm guessing that the family name, which came to be "Harmon,"
