Herbert  A. Caswell and Mary E. White

 

     

Herbert A. Caswell, son of William H. Caswell and Sarah Macomber, was born in 1862, in Taunton, MA.  

He married Mary E. White, (b. 1864, in Johnston, R.I.) on Feb. 23, 1882 in Attleboro at M.C or M.E. Church.

 Mary E. White was the second daughter of Samuel E. White, a Civil War veteran and Julia A. Hicks.  He was 19 and she was 18. They both resided in Attleboro and were listed as mill operators.  Mary  died in 1897 in childbirth.  

On December 25, 1899,  Herbert A. Caswell married Amelia E. b. Sept. 1876, MA.

Obituary from the Attleboro Sun.

Herbert A. Caswell, assistant supervisor of streets, a well known and respected resident of this city, died Wednesday night in the Strudy Memorial Hospital after an illness of several weeks.

Mr. Caswell was 53 years of age and had lived in Attleboro for the past 45 years. He was born in East Taunton. Besides a wife, Mr. Caswell is survived by two brothers, William and Edward Caswell, both of this city: two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Reynolds of this city and Mrs. Elmora Simmonds* of Taunton: three sons, Fred, Alan, and Irving, and, three daughters, Elmora, Laura and Florence. The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the late residence, 25A Bank St. and burial will be in Woodlawn.  

*  This may be a typo.  According to research, her name was actually Elnora.  She married Arthur Simmons.
