Richard Mullally and Julia Malahan

Richard Mullally was born ca. 1803-1805 in Ireland, county unknown, parents unknown. Spouse: Julia Malahan, she died in Ireland ca. 1849-1850,
m. ca. 1820-1825 in Ireland. Immigrated to USA in 1857 or perhaps a few years earlier. Passsenger record for Richard has never been found. All of his known sons immigrated from the Port of Liverpool, England in the year 1857, and all settled within months in and around Aurora, Cayuga Co., NY.

Richard owned property in the small town of Fleming, NY, which is adjacent to city limits of Auburn, NY. During the later few years of his life he was
living with his son Patrick and wife Ellen Flannery Mullally.  Richard Mullally died on 04 Nov 1893 at Fleming, NY, buried 06 Nov 1893 in the town of
Scipio, NY at 'Old' St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery. Cemetery records for the old cemetery supposedly were destroyed in a fire. Most all of the tombstones in the old cemetery were in poor condition and none found for Richard. Many of his descendats are buried at the 'new' St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Richard and Julia Mullally had at least four sons, perhaps very possibly daughters as well, as yet unproven.

John, b. 22 Mar 1828 in Ireland, Spouse: Mary Flannery, m. ca. 1857, shortly after arriving in US, passenger records show John and Mary listed with young married couple. He arrived at the Port of New York City in February of 1857, departed from the Port of Liverpool, England, on the ship
Emerald Isle. He is listed in passenger record as being 20 yrs. of age.
Died 09 Apr 1906 at Sayre, Bradford Co., Pennsylvania, where he was visiting his son. Two of John's sons moved to PA ca. 1900. John Mullally was 78yrs. old when he died from complications of Asthma.
His remains were transported back to Scipio, NY by rail and he is buried at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery, Scipio, NY.

Mary Flannery, b. ca. 1837 at County Tipperary, Ireland, daughter of Daniel and Hannah Flannery. Died, 01 Mar 1900, age 66 yrs., buried at
Scipio, NY, St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery.

Patrick, b. September 1832 in Ireland. Spouse: Ellen Flannery (sister of Mary who married his brother John), m. ca. 1852-53, Patrick apparently was the first to arrive, he was listed in the Passenger list for the ship America, which departed from Liverpool, England and arrived at the port of
New York City on 09 Apr 1852.
Found in the NY State Census of 1855, living in Ballston Spa, Saratoga Co., NY, with wife Ellen, year old son Richard and mother-in-law
Hannah Flannery, widow.

Patrick as well as others in the family were noted by descendants as being superior Brick Masons and Patrick worked on the extensive brick buildings and streets in Saratoga Springs, NY, still admired to this time.
Patrick became a Naturalized Citizen on 05 Oct 1868, in Cayuga County Court, per record listed in Book AA.
Died 28 Dec 1895 at Fleming, NY, buried at Scipio, NY, St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery.
Ellen Flannery, b. 1832, Co. Tipperary, Ireland, died 09 Nov 1907 at Fleming, NY, buried Scipio, NY, St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery.

Peter, b. ca. 1836-37 at Meath Co., Ireland, preponderance of evidence shows him to be son of Richard and Julia. Peter was listed in the Ships Passenger record for the Isaac Webb, traveling with his younger brother Anthony.
Ship Isaac Webb, departed from the Port of Liverpool, England, arrived at the Port of New York City on 14 Apr 1857.
Lower Deck, Port Side: Mullally, Peter, age 20, male, laborer, Country of Birth Ireland, Going to US.
Mullally, Anthony, age 17, male, laborer, Country of Birth, Ireland, Going to US.

Peter served with distinction in the Civil War, enlisting twice at Auburn, NY and part of the NY Light Artillery, Cowan's Battery. He fought in the front lines, behind the "Stone Fence" in the last and most devastating battle of Gettysburg, Picketts Charge. Peter was mustered out after the end of the war at Syracuse, NY, having attained the rank of Seargant. His whereabouts following the Civil War are unknown. Earlier records had indicated he was some-
what of a wander lust.
