Certified nurse aides are required to renew their certificate every 24 months. Renewal fees are presently $20. You must work in a nursing home, home health agency, hospital, long-term care unit of a hospital, or county medical facility as a nurse aide to comply with requirements for renewal. Work in a group or foster care home or assisted living center may meet the requirements for renewal if you are supervised by a registered nurse. Work in a physician office or as a unit clerk in a hospital does NOT meet the requirements for renewal.
If your name, address, or phone number change, please notify the state immediately so that when renewal papers are sent to you, the state will have proper information. If the state cannot locate you, you may jeopardize your certification, which could result in your having to re-take the nurse aide course.
